View Full Version : BattleGroup2 Update
<a href="http://www.battlegroup42.com/">BattleGroup2</a> mod posted an update on their site demonstrating how their developers create weapons for Battlefield 2.<blockquote>In this update, we are showcasing our PTRD anti tank rifle that will be used by the Soviet forces. Our bipod system will be featured on all anti-tank rifles, to help with realism as well as gameplay and balance.<br><br>Before that we'll like to show the process for getting an object into game. We plan on doing this every once in a while for various pieces of equipment so our fans can get a sense of what goes into actually developing a weapon.</blockquote><center><a href="http://www.totalbf2.com/images.php?img=news/images/ptrdnews4io.jpg"><img src="/news/images/thumb_ptrdnews4io.jpg"></a> <a href="http://www.totalbf2.com/images.php?img=news/images/ptrdscreen5lr.jpg"><img src="/news/images/thumb_ptrdscreen5lr.jpg"></a></center><br>Read the whole post <a href="http://battlegroup42forum.com/viewtopic.php?p=41981">here</a>.

Yeah, I think you are right, cuz FH are still working on .7 for BF1942 :(

The FH team has split their team up. There are really only 2-3 ppl working on the remaining FH .7 release for BF1942, all other team members are focusing on FH2. Also if you notice the most of the new vehicles they've been showcasing are for FH2 and backwards compatable with FH .7 for 1942. FH just hasn't shown any ingame screenshots so far, that's all, doesn't mean they're falling behind.
Anyhow, nice update Bobton, the PTRD & PTRS for that matter are always welcome in my book :) They seem to be the only AT rifles really worth using and pack a whollop. They also double as a nifty sniper rifle :D
You guys are doing some great work, keep it up and I look forward to your first release!

Yes this mod is very promising in deed!
But remember, the first mod out doesn’t necessarily mean that it will be the biggest or the best. Mods have to realize that "game play design - how fun the new maps are" is more important then good looking content! The vast majority of the BF1942 maps, in all of the mods IMO, didn't have well thought through level/map designs. I am not surprised and don't blame people for this, because it takes years of professional work to understand this. I am very curious to see how level (map) design evolves among BF2 mods. Any way, this is something I had on my mind for a very long time :D .

Good point, we might look into that. Note, too, the blue colour comes from the map, not the weapon (compare the ingame shot with the render). The map lighting settings have a great influence on weapon and static colours in BF2, more than we saw in BFV or BF42.
