I don't have the other two BF2 install disks with me anymore, just the play disc, and BF2 got deleted. No biggie, I'll just do a system restore (My system saves 20gb per system restore). I completed the system restore, and all the files (so I thought) were restored. I started the game, got a misssing file error, and the looked into my Bf2 folder. All the folders were there, but they were all empty besides the main BF2 folder. All the nessecary game files were missing. Does anyone know how to fix this?

I guess you can cry now..

Or

send an email or call EA, as long as you are the owner of that game they will probably send you a copy if you prove you bought the game..

What kind of error?

Erm.

"shaders/somethingsomething.fx <insert sarcastic error description from DICE cause nobody should get this error>"

I did a restore but all of the files that are in the folders such as python and mods are all empty.

What is up with all of these people losing their CDs and their keys?

Go to EA suport pages. And look for CD key issues. IF you have a valid CD key. Then you shouldn't have a problem just explane them what happned and you should be all set.

actually hes right. Just download it. You still have the valid CD Key, and the Play CD so there should be no problem.

Actually...he has not actually stated that he actually HAS a valid cd key ;)

I am extremely suspicious of most of these 'duh..I lost my key and/or my original CDs...plz help!!1!!!' threads. Call me cynical.

I am with Talus here. If you lost your CD-Key, why would you come to these forums? Wouldn't you contact EA?

To comment on all prior messages : I didn't lose my cd key yesterday. The game was already installed but the majority of files were missing because they weren't restore with System Restore.

GG MOM

Wow. My mom has found my other discs (two and three) but she presented them to me in those little slim jewel cases, which made me worry:

"Mom, Where's the case that I had them in?"
"Ooh, I threw that out cause it was too big, I put them in these nice little cases"

/ME CRIES

I emailed EA, hopefully they have my CD key on file. I think I regged it, but im not postive. If worse comes to worse, looks like i'll have to buy a new copy anyway.

gutted mate

rule 1) never let your parents near you pc games and if you own your own pc not even near that!!!

rule 2) parents very rarely understand the importance of these games so keep boxs and cds away from site of parents

You CD-Key may still be on your computer. Double check the following location:

Start > Run > type in "regedit" Now navigate to...

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > SOFTWARE > ELECTRONIC ARTS > EA GAMES > BATTLEFIELD 2 > GECH (something simular, can't remember it off hand, and I'm on my laptop currently).

Your CD-KEY will be located as a value inside of this directory. Write it down and staple the paper to your forehead. Or if you're like me, you can write it directly onto the CD, so you are sure never to lose it.

Also, for your sake it maybe a good idea to burn a back-up copy (FOR BACKUP PURPOSES ONLY!) and keep it in a safe place. You can also write the key on these CDs so you have 2 copies which you shouldn't loose!

Well since you have your discs and your original CD key I think it makes sense to close this so that people like iconfat can't post their stupid suggestions for warez.
