I know this issue has been played to death, I have tried to find a solution from other people's thread but nothing works.

Radeon 9800 PRO - I believe it is supported
AMD Athlon 2500+
512 MB of Ram

Any other info that might help please just ask.

It didn't work before I installed the patch, and it hasn't worked after.

I presume so, I installed 1.2 it took about 2 seconds to install. I'll try re-installing the drivers. Does anyone know of any custom ones out there I could try?

When you install drivers, in fact every time you install gfx drivers, use drivercleaner in safe mode, look here on how:
http://www.totalbf2.com/forums/showpost.php?p=230016&postcount=3

Make sure to have chipset drivers installed too, preferbly latest from the website of motherboard or chipset, not just the ones that came with install CD.

You can try posting your dxdiag info, WINKEY+R (Run menu) -> dxdiag.exe -> OK -> Save All Information, and post the content of .txt file.

Take a look in file ...\My Documents\Battlefield 2\dmp\patchlog.txt to check if patchlog has any errors or skipped files that are important, like bf2.exe or core.dll

Also take a look at the sticky at top of forum by GWS, on un and -installing and applying patches.

Boy...u have serious problms over there :p .
I had a similar problem, but it was due to a mx4000 video card, changed it to a fx5700 and finish the chap.
Does ur video card behaves good?
Do ya have tested ur ram?
Conection to the internet (what's it's speed? / DL&UL rates).
What r u running when u start ur game?... see ur task manager to see 'Performance'.

I had this very same problem. I spent probably 20 or more hours trying to fix it, to no avail. I have tried everything you can imagine and more.

What worked for me was a reformat and reinstall windows, then sp2, then ALL up'd drivers, then install bf2.

If you meet the min specs this REALLY should work.

The problem is a software conflict in the drivers somewhere....uninstalling doesn't help. Yes, I used drivercleaner.

reformat and enjoy the game, I know I am!
