maybe improvements in your Graphics card would help the lag better than a bigger CPU, or lower settings maybe?

Post your specs dude wtf, why do people ask for help and not post what they have. BF2 isnt processor crazy at all, its mostly video and ram.

get more ram before you get a new processor.

well then buy a new motherboard that supports ddr and get ddr. obviously your motherboard is old since you have rd, but depending on how old your motherboard is, if its the really old socket size(423....iirc but its been a few years since i gave away my old p4 that had the ddr, so im not 100% sure thats the exact size) for p4s that nobody makes anymore you will need a new processor too, unless you can find a motherboard that has the old size that supports ddr.

No it will not be worth it. The FX5700 is the problem it seems. Try updating the drivers per the instructions in the sticky at the top of this forum. Also make sure all other drivers are the most current available.

Also, what kind of internet connect do you have? What are the upload/download speeds of it? (google for "DSL Speed Test" to find a good speed test).

Haha all that nonsense in that other thread and yet as it turns out this thread demonstrates exactly why people should put their system spec in their sig, I rest my case..

to the OP - it would be better to invest your money in some of the suggestions above, a faster processor isn't really what your after, the mobo suggestion is a good one, or video card / ram maybe

I dunno about that. The CPU (P4 2Ghz) will definitely be a problem once you upgrade everything else. I ended up taking everyone's advice in getting 2gb of ram, and a 6800GT... and I am still stuck about 20fps behind everyone else (max settings) with AMD >3000+ processors since I am dealing with the stupid 2Ghz as well. I am actually about to spend a quick 290 bucks on a 3500+ AMD board and CPU so I can get up to par with everyone else. My 3dMark05 scores were also about 1200 less than those with better processors and the same Ram and GFX card. Priority I found to be the best was 2 GB Ram, 6800GT, then CPU. The extra 1.5GB of Ram helps with load times a bit, and increased my FPS/stability more than the 6800GT did from my 5600 256MB.

Why get a new PC when you can just upgrade the tower you have for a few hundred bucks? Unless you want a new box, better disk drives, and don't know how to build a rig, just upgrade what you have.
