StandAlone Server disconnecting players (XPPro)

Hello

I am running a standalone server for me and my friends to play on. The machine is made up of the following:

Tyan Tomkat K8E
Athlon64 3800+ Newcastle
PC P&C 510 XE
Kingston Value Ram Pc3200 ECC 2 Gb

I am connected through a dlink dgl4300 to comcast cable. I have the neccessary forwarding ports setup on the router to the server. I have been able to get as many as 8 people playing on the server with no problems, however, the last couple games I am noticing (from my gaming machine that is talking to the server through my router) that players are randomly getting 'disconnected from the server'. People are complaining about short lived but severe lag, and the occasional 'disconnected from server' error.

I have updated punkbuster files and that seems to be functioning properly. I have updated the game to Ver 1.02 and I believe that this updated my Standalone server files as well.

So why when I have more than 6-8 people is the server disconnecting players so much??

Is there something I can do with my settings to alleviate this problem??

Please help. Whatever information you need please advise.
