How do you connect directly to another IP

We were trying to get a couple friends' machines to connect directly to my machine. How do you get it to do this? I thought there was just a box in multiplayer that you could type in an IP, but I didn't see one. :(

Isn't there a "Connecti to IP"box in the multiplayer screen?

There sure is. You have to either wait for the server list to refresh or hit the 'Stop Refresh' button for it to appear though.

Guess I need to be plugged into a high speed line to do it :( Can't use an online account unless you are.

Are you talking about playing over a LAN and not going online at all?

Wanted to play over a LAN, but to do a CO-OP type of mode one player has to start a singleplayer game and the other players have to start multiplayer games and connect to the IP of the first guy.

However, in order to use multiplayer and connect to an IP, you have to use an online account. You can't log into an online account unless you are connected to a high speed line.

They really don't make this easy.

What are you doing with multiple copies of BF2 and you don't even have high speed internet?

I have high speed internet. Was playing at a friend's house who didn't have it. Each of us has a copy of the game.
