How do I change a KIT to have different weapons then intended? I had posted this before but as it was two questions I presume people got confused. I want to take say the silenced pistol out of a sniper kit and add the regular pistol or even a MP5 this is just an example of what I am talking about. However when I replace it I crash to desktop.

Ok I thought someone else would come on and explain for you but I guess not.;)
I'm not the best at explaining things but here goes...
Each weapon has a number 1 thru 9.
Look for the line "ObjectTemplate.itemIndex 4" in the weapon .tweak files
Each kit can only have ONE of each number in it.
For example: Each primary weapon is numbered 3, pistols are 2, knife is 1, grenades are 4 and so on...

You need to edit the weapon .tweak files if you want say two primary weapons in a kit.
Beware though - every weapon number you change will have repercussions on whichever other kits use it.
Remember only one of each number per kit otherwise you will crash to desktop.
Additionally you can run Bf2 in windowed mode to see any error messages caused by your tweakin...
Change the desktop icons target to
"C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\BF2.exe" +menu 1 +fullscreen 0
I'll include the usual disclaimer here:
Don't use these modifications online in multiplayer games because punkbuster WILL kick you, make another mod and work from that. Otherwise a reinstall will be needed to play in online games... YOU WERE WARNED!!! :D

Swapping the pistols wouldn't be a problem since they have the same index number but the MP5 would need its index changed in its .tweak file as described above. Note however that this would cause a conflict in the US AT kit since it would then have the pistol and SMG on the same index. The BFSP forum has some good info on this subject. Got it all set thank you for info my special forces operator now carries a shotgun for backup as well as his pistol the c4 and a couple claymores and the sniper has the MP5 as his back up. Thank you much guys.

My AT kit has:
1 defibrillator
2 silenced pistol
3 DAO-12
4 AT missiles
5 AT mines
6 AK47
1 and 6 are copies of the original weapons so they don't cause conflicts in other kits.
