best infantry units?

Depends on the situation. For example, the power of Airborne is being able to drop them anywhere, but they suck at combat until they get RRs and you obviously wouldn't use Knight's Cross against tanks.

My preference is: Riflemen, Stormtroopers, Knight's Cross, Grenadiers, Rangers, Volks, Airborne.

Stormtroopers with lv3 vet and panzershrecks are pretty good :)

stormtroopers... 4 squads, 2 rifles, 2 panzershrechs... pretty good, as they can go into camoflage mode.

Yea but still Rangers can charge after they are been pinned down
Stormtroopers are awsome if you know how to use them, good cover+camoflage
and an MG42, can create a great infantry ambush.
Airborne are good for flanking, thats why when playing with a friend, one should
have the armor doctrine and one the Airborne doctrine. That way you can
have a fast infantry support and using the tanks to create massive firepower
that will pin down the enemy and let the airborne troops to flank him.
Anyway, i dont know if there is a "best" infantry unit, each one was made
for a different type of mission\job.

I gotta go with Storm troopers for the best. Easy to get veterancy(hence the german side) and they can get the all time second greatest gun the MP44. Along with panzerschrecks(much better than the M-9) and ofcourse the ambush factor(camo).

Next would be rangers. I wish they had the RR's as those are better but the whole thing of tommy's and M-9's I cant really complain.

Next is a tie. I cant decide between Knights or Airborne. Airborne have satchels but their infantry combat blows while knights are practicly bullet proof and own other infantry.

Then the other three dont really matter to me except maybe the volk's for the MP-40's close combat ownage.

give me knights cross any day,ive sent knights straight into 4 mg nests with scratches.and if any armro does appear i always have a tiger or panther nearby.

i said rangers , but today my whole ranger squad got killed but the dude with a pistol on the pak crew. i was disgusted.

QFT!!! As it was already stated before, all depending on situation and what not, they're all good ... but the knights cross with picked-up panzershrecks = pwnage. :p :D

I like the knights, the only problem is they're expensive to produce. That's a huge factor in this game. Using your resources properly.

I just assume a normal infantry unit will do good enough for me. I will usually use the infantry I get through the commanding points. Rangers, Airbourne, Stormtroopers etc. The units I build with my base are usually armor or snipers or something.

Also one last note Rangers got nerfed to hell in 1.6 soo... I'd still say StormToops
