I personally dislike this map, game lasts wayyyy too long, becomes stalemated and boring. But I had an interesting game as Axis on that map. Since the map has low fuel income I went Blitz (like anything else is good besides Blitz but that isn't the point[don't bash I know defensive is good and Terror, well, ok, maybe]). So I push across the bridge and set up a foward HQ at the strat point left of the south bridge, with a foward HQ and MG's covering each other in the buildings. From there I made small push's with infantry units saving up to the StuH. Call in the StuH and I beat up their infantry but the counter mortars forced me to lose my position and I retreated across the bridge. There I regrouped while my ally pushed through the middle. I push again and I suffer a few casualties but continue on. The enemy went Infantry and Armor and I was facing the Infantry company person. I continued to chew up his infantry and eventually I had a Tiger and moved in for the kill. Infantry with my Tiger destroyed everything that the person could throw at me. Infantry company just couldn't do anything, rangers suck at penetrating Tiger armor and MP44 Storms chew them up. Moved in and took out his HQ before calling in StuH's (which are great at destroying base buildings quickly, try it some time) to take out his partners HQ.
So the moral of the story is, don't go Infantry company, it doesn't work (again no yelling, I know it has its ups and downs but it shows how much it lacks in late game support).

Vire is my fav map after Lyon, if normally utilize the stalemate and use it to get loads of resources and build up a fleet of tanks etc ready for the final push. That is usualy my general tactic.

the problem with vire is that there is not enough fuel for axis to produce tanks to combat the allied tanks that are cheaper.

I would like to fight against that strategy. I guess that the strategy is to either blockade, blow, or demo charge the bridges or if your axis have goliaths on watch on the bridges. Then perhaps both go inf and you howy the enemy bases to death. Hmmm am I right???? :)

When my friend and I play, usually as the British against any combination of expert Germans, we stick with a basic strategy.
First, we capture all the points (obviously). I take the lower bridge, making a Vickers and Borfors, along with a slit trench. He does the same on the upper bridge. Then, we both build 17 pounders that flank the middle, along with 2 vickers, a few slit trenches, and then 2 mortar emplacements on top of the ridge (we swap sides usually). By this time, our sappers have upgraded with the demo-charges, and we blow the 2 bridges, and build 2 25 pounder howitzers. Then we each get at least 2 sherman fireflies, along with the command tank, and then a priest. This strat is unstoppable against any computer, since they fail to mortar/shell our defenses, which probably wouldn't be true against a human player. Then we go across with 2 infantry units, 2 sappers, 3 tanks apiece, take points, make more tanks, shell their base with our 2 priests/2 25 pounders, and it's pretty much game over.

Looks cool! What difficulty do you play against when you use this strategy?
