This is a little rant of mine but COMON. I just got drophacked and that is the most annoying thing in the entire world. I mean I started a comeback and the good game would of turned into a Great Game but no, as soon as the table turns he pulls the plug. His name was Flame so watch out for him. To not get locked I ask this: How do other RTS games deal with this drophacking or is it a COH exclusive thing. How does World of Warcraft deal with it if anyone knows.:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

What is drophacking? Is it like teabagging? ;) I'd like to see someone do that in coh! :D

I have never experianced drop hacking, infact i think its a myth, but this is my opinion.
CoH does have network problems as most of you have experianced. Such Sync-Errors and random drops.

Drop hacking is when the person you are playing against "pulls the plug" otherwise known as disconnecting his internet causing the game to crash and for some reason the person that drophacks gets the win.

What about people with bad connections? Not guilty until proven guilty is my opinion.

If they lose their connection then it counts as a loss for them, but if they pull the plug they get a win and the person who they are playing against is well screwed. I got a loss and thus got drophacked, which happened AGAIN!!! today.

Ahhh i didn't understand fully what it was, quite easy to fix IMO. All they would have to do would make the host have a loss for loosing connection.

Its not a hack, its just the server starter voting to kick you.

No, if you get kicked during the game it will say "you've been kicked" but if you are drophacked then you get XXX has dropped "you are victorious" but if you check your stats you get a drop and a loss. If it is the internet screwing up you'll get the same message but instead of a loss you'll get a win.

Ok thanks! :)
I dont think this has ever happened to me. "Sync-error" sounds familiar tho aerotow... Think thats what i keep getting when i try to play some of my replays.

I have a very long email with some code examples that I sent to the company a few weeks ago which were the result of me and a security pro friend of mine playing around with 2 registered copies of the game.
It is EXTREMELY easy to cause someone on the other team to drop out of the game with a DROP due to him going out of sync and it does not effect the other players.
We didnt write code to identify the other players, and I am not going to share what we did with non-confirmed employees of the manufacturer or the distributor - but if you do work for them and can proove it please contact me - we have some suggstions.... this game is too easy to manipulate and it IS ruining many games.

i do not believe this statment....... i cannot because if it was so easy then it would be happening almost every game....which it doesnt.
also...if it truly was that easy then tell us how its done.
there should be no negative impact because everyone would already know how to do it.......in reality, alot of people just think this is a myth.
i personnaly feel it is possible, however it is very hard to do, and very few know how to do it.

All you do is make the system believe that the other person is lagging the game, eventually the other person will lag out.

I'm undecided, CoH does have alot of Connection problems, sometimes i think "drop hacks" are really just dogey connectiong. I may be wrong but its just an opinion.

Generally if you see the lag grace thing pop up and the person has a 29s lag grace, and then drops and you get a loss, then you've been dropped hacked. Check the relic forums and GR.org, they all talk about it.

care to elaborate ?......or just leave a generalized statement as some type of evidence?

Ok I'm not gonna say "this is how you do it" cause then people will start doing it to get cheap easy wins.

OK i also think this, if true, is a minor problem and not something that should be of much concern.....so it stands to reason that you wouldn't want to make it worse by divulging the way its done, i commend that. i also beleve this to be true.
however, if you think this is as easily done as the other poster then, i would say, you just are trying to inflate a relative non-issue that you really dont understand how its done anyway. reason bieng, it wouldnt hurt because it would be completely well-known.

The problem isn' t that big now, but around patch 1.4 this was a serious problem. This drophacking thing isn't something I've made up, search relic forums, for drophacking, search GR.org for drophacking, and you'll see that this underhanded tactic was used a lot patches ago.

yes i know that thread and i even posted in it. my post was off topic as the thread turned into something different than discussing drop-hacking. it was in the very last page if you want to know.
i dont claim its made-up, just a very minor thing that doesnt deserve the amount of publicity that it gets. if you want a huge issue just look at the smurfing plauge that has enveloped us in coh, now thats a catastrophy worth contemplating.

Ok, I wasn't trying to make it a giant issue, but when I made this topic it was an issue.
