"- The following sound cards do not support the Hardware Audio
Renderer option:" and one of them was Creative Labs SB Live. But since then i have had hardware renderer enabled for sound and i can tell a significant difference between software and hardware..so wat does that mean?

It seems that ur sound card or it's driver can't deal with the sound signal formats produced by standard games. This means that those signal formats must be developed and reproduced by software code which loads on processor performance.
Check for ur SB capabilities on it's booklets or internet.

Yes, but it is probably the SB Live 24 bit card which does NOT support hardware under BF2 :(

Best way to find out exactly which card it is, is to pull the card and look in the top right corner. There should be a model number there that looks like either SBXXXX or CTXXXX. Then just post that back here, or a Google search should tell which it is.
