I'm having the same problem as you mate. Sometimes it works, others it will just restart the computer.
hmm.. I actually played it one time now.. not sure whether it's just once or it's fixed anyways, I deleted all my cache (log cache and pb cache) I disabled norton, and updated pb, u might wanna try that mate! not sure though! :)

Do you have anything in your computer overclocked?
no, not that I know, but thw weird thing is, that I played this game since the beginning, nver had 1 single problem, all of a sudden , without changing anything, my computer restarts immediatly after the loading screen shows!! I'm so f*cking desperate, since I pad big bucks for this game :hmm: :( F*CKING EA!!!!!!

What about virus and malware? Have done some scans?
Do u recognize all of ur backgroud services?
I've been recomending a magnificent tool... Tuneup Utilities, it's shareware on internet, to the guys posting hard problems. Try it and do all the recomended optimizations and verifications.

And background applications? Some maybe harmless but collide w/ game's memory usage. Check em. The recomemded is to unload em b4 starting game. I usually leave my FW only.
Then think about hardware problems, like mem testing, PSU loading (how many hardware u have in the box and it's power needs)... vid card and sound card or it's drivers (old) have been related to CTDs and resets...

Nothing suspicious with mine also. Today I've tried BF2 6 times, but each resets the computer. Was working as normal yesterday, just can't work it out :S

Anyone have a solution or similar problem to this? I'm getting so frustrated with it now, it's ridiculous.
Re-installed BF" earlier, but still the computer keeps resetting. Everytime the PC loads up again, I get a 'your system has jujst recovered from a fatal error' message.

Make sure to turn these off, preferable get rid of anything Norton alltogether.
My game has an issue with software firewalls but for some reason it has no problem with my router firewall.

If you have tried all of the above suggestions (which are good ones). Then try reinstalling your video and sound card drivers. Do a clean install of your video drivers first ( i learned the hard way). If that doesn't work then try reinstalling the whole game. It shouldn't take very long.

I installed TuneUp and did all it advised, and BF2 worked for one round, then started crashing again. I've tried using TuneUP before every game now, but alas, it no longer works.
Tried the driver thing also, but no luck :(
Getting so annoyed with this, feels like a waste of £30 now.

It's not your hardware that's the problem, I think we have 3 threads now with basically the same problem, here's the other 2:

And here's the thread at EA:
