Hi folks,
I'm trying to create some short test movies in BF2 using the BFRecorder and Fraps. I prefer to use Fraps as it's fast and convenient.
Unfortunately whilst playing back the demo files I still get the player's names appearing above their heads (which is strange, as the rest of the HUD can be removed using the renderer.drawHUD command).
Is there any way to remove these names?
I'm afraid a search didn't come up with anything, so apologies if this has been asked before.
Many thanks.

the usual way to get rid of names it to render out with BFRecorder. There is another way but Im not sure what it is give me a sec...
In the gamelogic file in mods/bf2
open with notepad or textpad
and add this line to the bottom
renderer.drawNametags 0
it will get rid of nametags.
To set back get rid of the line.

can you keep that line in there forever or is it something of an on off thing you have to do manually for filming?
(cant seem to open it in anything, i think my comp is screwed)

Worked like a charm - can't thank you enough bud! :)
Out of interest, where did you find that command?
All of the console command lists I've downloaded only had a limited selection of renderer commands like drawHud and draw Fps...

Its not a console command. it doesnt work in the console only in that file. I found it cause im a modder and look at things.

you can keep the line in forever but it will mean on any server you go in or anywhere at all in the game you will not see nametags.

If you don't want to edit files and want to stay with Fraps, you can follow a little trick.
In BattleRecorder, the nametags will NOT appear until you first "lock on" to a player with the camera. If you never switch to a player-following camera, nametags will never appear.
