Hello there I am using Alcohol 120 to run an image of Bf2 without the disc in. I have one other game that I also use Alcohol for...
everything was fine and dandy until one day I went to run bf2 and the load logo came up and said that I need to insert the disc? after deleting and re-dumping the image it is still coming up? at the same time my other game is working perfectly fine? this all occured after updating from 1.0 to 1.03 patch.

any ideas?

thanks,
iMP

its called COPY PROTECTION. games in general have it, online often more so. im afraid you may have some trouble playing this without the real disc, your best bet is to put the cd in

I've been using a virtual drive of BF2 from Alcohol for months online. No problems with the 1.03 update. I own a retail disc of BF2, if you don't that could be your problem.

No I have a retail disc that I bought im not trying to steal anything here... I am just trying to keep my disc from getting scratched and keep my ROM drive freed-up. Everything was working great then it just stopped...
no ideas?

what is wrong with you Goya? Did you not see my last post? I've paid the same money you have for the game, what's the difference if I want to run mine through a virtual drive instead of my physical drive?
Maybe you don't know what you're talking about?

Yeah i incurred the same problem, except i got 2 puters and didnt want to keep moving the disc from 1 to the other. It was working fine till 4 days ago, i installed the patch, but cant remember playing on the virtual till then. Maybe the patch has code in it to keep people from stealing the game, but inadvertantly keeps people from burning the virtual drive.

Thanks Mr.Bucket it's good to know that someone else is having the problem and I'm not just making a stupid mistake of some sort.
I have a few members of my team that are very good with software and I'm having them help me out this weekend with this... so I will get back to you if I hear anything.

BF2 has Copyright protection, in all honesty, I'm surprised it let you install on that machine as usually it will not allow you to install onto a machine with emulation software. As the post above said, your best bet is just to run it with the CD. EA will not support you on this and Alcohol isn't going to write a crack just to work with 1 game.

And for future reference this type of subject matter is considered warez, and is not permittable on this site. I'm sure they will let it slide this time, but beware in the future.

roger that Khaos, appreciate it.

Conscript; I downloaded Daemon tools once and I didn't like it's functionality and interface... but maybe i'll have to look back into it.

i use a mini image loaded in alcohol as well.
are you running the latest version of alcohol ?
I've had absolutely no problems whatsoever..maybe its your mini image, did you make yours or did you get it from gamecopyworld ?
try reinstalling alcohol and choose expert installation, then when you see 2 boxes with bus numbers in ( something like a347a) change the last letter to a different letter.some games look for this bus and use that to block alcohol.

good luck ..i hate putting discs in and waiting for it to spin up as well...plus the noise drives the missus mad

Hey Chunter what do you mean by a Mini-Image? I just dump the 800somthing megabit image in .MDS form onto my harddisk. But thanks for the tips I will try and re-install alcohol today.

yes! Bisley you are the best. I just dl'ed that tiny 32k file and stuck it in my image folder and everything runs smoothly now.

appreciate it.

i'm running a BF2 mini image. Can't remember if i had to use Daemon, or Anti-Blaxx to get it working, but once i did. I've never had a problem.

I hate to have to have the disc in the drive. Mainly because i burn a lot of DVDs (both data and video) and would keep forgetting to put my BF2 DVD in.

Glad to see you got it running implode. I personally use Daemon tools to mount images. It has never let me down.

BTW, goya. Not everyone that comes here for help with disc mounting are pirates. Sounds like you have some personal issues to deal with.
