Discussion on tanks

When the site first opened, i posted that the tiger was the best, my opinion has changed after playing tons of online games.
My number one favourite tank is now the Pershing, Followed by the Axis Panther with full veteran status. Both tanks are relatively fast with a good turret speed and powerful turrets.

I aggree, I love it to have to pershings on the field with support of about 2 shermans with the barrel upgrade and 4engineers following them. :)

After watching aeros invincible Tiger Ace getting pwned by a pershing for the 9th time we both decided that perhaps playing US and get a few Pershings of our own would be a good solution to end our loosing streak. However MY favourite tank is the Crocodile! I love the big flamethrower! It really slaughters enemy soldiers and totally fills buildings with fire but its not very efficient against other tanks. Also I really like the Bulldozer upgrade. Yes its very handy for plowing away tank traps but even more important: It looks really cool!

oohh yeah. In the campaign whenever I had the bulldozer I would just leave the thing running even when I knew I wasn't using it just because it looked so cool. lol.

I havn't really used enough of the tanks to really develop an opinion yet. I loved the Ostwind (flakpanzer) at first because it shot really fast and did alot of damage. After using it more it's a TERRIBLE fighter with enemy tanks. When I say terrible, I mean I would easily rather use infantry over the ostwind.

Other than that I would just say to push out as many tanks as I can. They all move alot faster than the Tiger and Pershing. Just be careful with them. You will be careful with Tiger and Pershing so you may as well just use something that's cheaper to replace if necessary.

btw my opinion may not be the best as I havn't used all of the tanks as much as others.

told you the panther was the best tank,get 2 or 3 and 3 squads of engys and ur set,i lasted about 10 minutes with 3 against 2 team with armor commander and them using awm,i killed aroun 30 shermans with my panthers before i was killed.

Panther actually is the worst tank (cost effective that is). If your in a non campy game (not lyon or vire). Panthers will drain your resources. A bunch of Panzer 4's will do better and be more effective. However if you don't go blitz or terror a few Panthers will be good to have. Panthers have the longest range of any tank so it is best to keep them back and have your other tanks move in closer. However if you take all of the MBT (not croc or ostwind) Pershing is first followed by lvl3 vet Tigers, Tiger Ace, Panzer IV lvl3, Panther lvl0, and then a stug. A panther with lvl2 veterancy is >= a lvl3 PanzerIV.

panthers are powerful but too expensive. their cost is too much for their extra performance. its like buying a 8800 Ultra ($1090AU) instead of a 8800GTX ($800AU) for an extra %10 in performance. its really an overclocked 8800GTX

Panzer 4's massed + full upgrades beat all, but i do have a soft spot for flak panzers.

I wish it was able to use its Main Gun.:hmm:

far out! that would be nice...most importantly why disable the gun on the calliope? rarely use it, only for portable arty and scaring enemy soldiers away... oh well, at least it doesn't cost 200 munitions anymore to fire it

meh id rather have the 125 cost and using main gun,it was free to only 600 man power and u could call as many as u wanted,made a easy way to take out hqs.

The calliope was overpowered with the main gun but without it, it is kind of underpowered. I say that they should make it so its main gun worked but had an extended reload time.

I think we need the main gun back, it is totally defenceless on its own.

Well sometimes you let it go quite close to the enemy to be able to fire its arty. So it usually somehow ends up being alone...

Oh yer in sww2 it was ok, i dont really remember it tho, that was a good 3-4 years back now...and yes i always use the flail...against experienced players that is, and they pwn inf ;)
