dude, that 4000+ Can pack a punch, and the 7800GTX is one of the highest cards on the market so youll get 90 FPS easily (like myself:)). Do you know what make your 7800GTX is?

Henbob
10-31-2005, 05:02 PM
Wow! Sweet! Thanks guys. You lot are much nicer and more helpful than some other BF2 forums i tried. Erm, it just says "256MB GEFORCE 7800 GTX PCI Express + DVI + TV-OUT". Is that what you meant?

N2K

Henbob

It says- "AMD ATHLON 64BIT 4000 (San Diago) 1MB L2 Cache (939 pin)" Is that okay?

dont get the 7800GTX, wait a few weeks and get the ATI X1800X. i've checked the specs, the 7800 GTX won't be able to compete with it.

Ya you have a point. x1800 is very sweet. They just reach 1Ghz Core speed too in Finland OC'in this card. That had to use liquid nitrogen to cool the card to -80 Degrees Celicus. Now that is awesome. It is the next step in graphic cards. :)

Henbob
10-31-2005, 06:21 PM
Nah, it will cost me loads and it's not as if i'm an extreme gamer. As long as it runs BF2 smoothly i'm happy.

AIT's "Crossfire" is nothing incomparison with Nvidias SLI, so if your thinking about running two cards, then your definately at an advantage with the 7800GTX SLI

I was going to, but i've been told i won't need it. It's only like an "after school" pc to play games on, not some super extreme gaming pc, lol.

I got Compenstaion from getting run over, so i bought myself:

AMD Athlon 64 3500+
2gig Corsair DDR400 PC3200 RAM
320gig sata
17" flat screen
Soundblaster live 7.1 24bit
6600GT
then upgraded to my Overclocked 7800GT (OCed to GTX)

So the broken arm was worth it

hi ..

porsonalty , I think GeForce 7800GTX (http://nvidia.com/page/geforce_7800.html)is better than Radeon X1800 (http://ati.com/products/RadeonX1800/index.html)

also , CNet Editor gave the Radeon X1800 low rate : [ Check out here (http://reviews.cnet.com/ATI_Radeon_X1800_XL_256_MB/4505-8902_7-31530061.html) ]

I am using Geforce 6600. :)

How can you say that?
Have you tried eithier card. I mean it is ok to have a preference but if you have no actually experience with the X1800 how can you say the 7800 is better.
did you know that the x1800 is the first card to reach a clock speed of 1GHz.

I'll post some from my X850XT PE later, but the 7800gtx is definetely the better card.

The 7800GT outperforms the X1800XL in more than half the games.

The 7800GTX and the X1800XT are pretty much neck-and-neck though.

Its pretty sad on ATi's part actually. That had MANY MANY months to make their X1800 series better and they still come out with something that doesn't beat the competitor in even half the games? Thats pretty bad.

Well, the 7800GT and 7800GTX are MUCH cheaper than the X1800 series right now anyways, so theres no reason to go with the R520s.

For anyone buying a high-end card; go with the 7800GT. Its like $120 cheaper than the 7800GTX and you can overclock the GT to GTX...

A GTX and a 1800 XT are pretty close performance wise, so a GTS would suit me fine :D

how much you pay for that bfg?

Novah
11-10-2005, 04:43 PM
I paid £405 about 3-4 months back though its now down to £350

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/acatalog/7800__Series.html

Personally its made the game like 2000% better than using the 6600 gt i had.

Oh......at DGI we have also notced that running the game with a Minimum of 2gb of ram significantly makes maps load quicker as opposed to 1gb or ever 2gb.

the game has a useage of 800-900mb of memory when its running.

Main reason i got this card was for the support they give. BFG are renound for their good customer support. In addition it dosent really matter what core speed the card is......ive seen some at 490MHZ and others at 430MHZ . . when they are all put through through 3dmark 2005 they all show a core speed of 501MHZ - see this article.

http://www.guru3d.com/newsitem.php?id=2836

now the article says that the core speed is always 430 mhx no matter what number they advertise. with the BFG card they actually factory overclock the card to run at 460 MHZ w00t!!!
