Alright I'm getting back into COH from my WIC stint, and I plan on making some tips, tricks, and strategies for COH. So here is a little guide on how to deal with Tigers.
First off recognize if the player has gone Blitz or something else. Try to hold off on your company, until he chooses one. If he chooses Blitz or Terror you know to go either Airborne, or Armor. If he goes defensive then go infantry (TOH episode 44) to counter it.
1) How to recognize: If you see stormtroopers, or early grenades from Volksgrenadiers then you know that the person has gone Blitz, and you need to prepare for possible double Tigers.
2) Now depending on what company you go it will dictate what buildings you need. If you go airborne you should focus on getting munitions more then fuel. Why? Well Airborne need Recoiless Rifles to be effective (125mu) and AT guns need munitions for the AP round (75mu). On the other hand,if you go armor, then you should focus a little bit more on fuel, and you should but the upgrades at the Supply Depot. Why? The supply depot upgrades will give you more manpower income, and allow you to field that Pershing or At guns faster. As for buildings, you'll need a Motor Pool to field AT guns. Don't worry on getting a tank depot, cause if you play correctly, by the time you plan on building the building and then fielding a tank you'll have enough CP for a Pershing.
3)Now you will not be able to win with just Pershings you'll need support. Airborne can rely strictly on airborne infantry, and anti tank guns. Now to effectively counter the Tiger you need to surprise it. Have your AT behind the lines and use your airborne infantry or an M10 to lure it within AT range. Once it fires the first shot hit the AP round button, and flank with your airborne. If you have a tank on the field use it to flank behind, and KEEP THE TANK WITHIN AT RANGE! This way you will minimize your dammage to your M10 and speed up the time it takes to destroy the Tiger.
The strategy with Armor is similar, except it requires more micro. You find the Tiger and use either riflemen, or the Pershing to bring it into AT range. Follow the same procedure and flank with the Pershing. Run circle around it and prevent it from escaping. If you are still in AT range you have a win win, because if he turns he will get hit in the *** with AT fire, and if he doesn't he will get hit in the *** with Pershing gun. Utilize your abilities. If you are at half health, use the Crew repairs vehicle if you know you will win the battle, but need some health. If you are fubar (****ed Up Beyond All Repair) then you can push the AWM button. Keep engineers on the field and use them to repair.
Side notes. Sticky bombs will help with either company choice to slow down the Tiger, and make it stay in AT range longer. Armor will need to OP a munition point to get munitions for the AWM and Crew Repair Vehicles. As long as you have a high fuel and a low fuel, you will be ok on fuel. On Ango that is easy and you should OP a high munitions. On Semois you should OP your fuel point and just hold onto the munitions, since Semois has an overflow of munitions.
