Install crashes after reinstall

So, here's the situation. My friend uninstalled his BF2, and later attempted to reinstall only to have the installer drop to the desktop. Now I'm in the same boat. I uninstalled BF1942 and it also removed my BF2 registery. Now when attempting to reinstall BF2 the installer crashes to the desktop. Any suggestions? Copying the installer to the desktop doesnt' work.

Try uninstaling this way manually and then try reinstalling:

I fixed that problem with tune up.
