MAN this game looks so unbeliveably sweet the level of realism and depth. I just finished reading over the about coh section on this website and I can't belive the level of strategy required to play this game, the only rts ive ever experienced was starcraft but this blows that waaay out of the park.
That "out of supply" thing is so cool because it forces a frontline to be created.

One question I wanted to ask, Since this game has so many aspects that make it so much like a real battlefield.

Would any knowledge of real military strategy and tactics help me alot when I play this game? I watch alot of military channel and sometimes for fun ill check out a book from the library on military leaders and the strategies they used....or ill go on the internet :D, so anyway would that knowledge help me?

probably not really. your strategy has to change as the otherpersons change. you pretty much just have to use counter tactics/strategies.

real military starategy? it'll be hard since the same is not a sim. maybe just know basic stuff like flanking, defensive positions, etc.

And of course using terrain, using the front of tanks and so on.

what if instead you force his strategy to change as YOURS changes.


since that "out of supply" thing forces your territories to be linked and frontline is created could I do something like putting half of my army spread over the frontline dug into strong defensive postions while the other half balls up into one area and breaks through their frontline and goes for their main base?

basically what im asking is "Is some sort of frontline created and if so would it be a good idea to use 30-50% of my forces all at once to break the frontline and sew chaos behind enemy lines?"

The game most of the times doesn't play at a front line science you can always sneak troops to cut his resources and stuff, the game is not a bloodsport where you send all your army to one point to fight the other, well not unless the other guy is camping.

its pretty much designed so that you need an offensive defence, totally removing the problems associated with a static frontline. so if it is even, you will be going backwards and forewards.

in the units section it said that the guys with bazookas(rangers) are support only does that mean that i cant build them andf that ill be lacking in anti tank guns on the battlefield?

By support it means they are part of a company command, You have to chose Infantry as your company to have access to rangers, if you choose airborne or armour you won't be able to use rangers.
Anti-Tank guns are produced from the motorpool which every (American) player can build regardles of company.

germans are lucky because they can make panzershreks all the time. always have a tank defence team backup, take advantage of the AT shells for the american AT gun

Have you even played the game? it is totally unrealistic, and it does not take a huge amount of start to play you just learn what works and what does not.

I doubt hardly any military knowledge will help as coh has its own gameplay not realistic that it, common sense is more useful than tactics imo.

turns out im getting it 2day they sent my check 2 me and my post office was closed 4 awhile.

I notice on the intrawebs alot of videos have players with their infantry running around with no cover, if i was to make a habit of getting to cover ALWAYS would I come out on top?

well im gonna practice on single player getting large numbers of units to saftey at the start of a firefight them im gonna bring in mortars before i move.
Im not going online till tommorow i hate going online to new game without experience.
