Why MAKe a map...when you can base it on a real place....

I just had the coolest idea.

Instead of spending time thinking of what to make a map look like...why not get a map/satelite view of a real small relatively unheard of town france around the normandie area....ad basically copy a small portion of that.

because towns are a lot bigger in real life. and current towns look a tad different to WW2 ones.

Nah doesn't work. I map for CoH and it would take months, tons of satelite imagery, and on-scene work to get a replica town.

So if you have the money to fly to france, get satelite imagery, and photograph till your hearts content give it a shot.

actually , for once i agree with eddy , u could easily base a map on old ww2 recon photos of places , u could base the layout of the map on that , like were buildings are , hedges and roads and rivers ,

It depends on accuracy.

If you want every single tiny detail of a town, then you need a hell of alot of resources.

However if its just building layout its possible, but scale is a problem.

aye scale is yes , but the overall layout of roads and key points ect.

I just want layout of large things.

building roads hedgrows, rivers bridges.

the small details like trees and little fences ill do myself just so i can call it my own
