View Full Version : EA trying to cheat us Europeans blind!

Just ordered SF through EA's downloader. The price tag said 29.99$.

For those of you living in the EURO-countries, beware! EA tries to charge you 29.99 euros, which is significantly more than 29.99$! This is clearly indicated only _after_ you have agreed to pay the expansion, in the email they send you.

I contacted EA's "support" and they wanted to know my d.o.b, credit card number etc. through email to help me further. Well, I was stupid enough to send the 8 last digits of my credit card number, not knowing back then that the 8 first numbers are just the country code and can be found out easily..

You pay more for gas, you can pay more for this. Send me those 8 digits, I'll tell you if what you say is true, I'm good with that kinda stuff.

its not generally that much more expensive for games over here if u buy them online. SF was £14.99 which is bout 25 dollars.

there's no law that says you gotta sell the same thing for the same price in different countries, you amateur economists. Don't get your knickers in a twist. It's not in the EU's constitution, for chrissakes.

No, but there's a law against wrong price tags.....

Oh come off it, what the hell are you talking about? the natural ASSUMPTION (right or wrong) would be that a STANDARD conversion rate would be used for $ to euro's, as it is with every other online transaction for EVERYTHING! why are you being such an idiot and abusing this guy for pointing out a genuine problem?? 4 posts and you have no intention of helping him or inputting to the conversation. Grow up or leave the thread jackass.

To OP i belive you have a geniune reason for refund if you want to go through the process ,simply because you wasnt informed BEFORE you payed, if the price said $30 then you should pay 30 bucks with the standard exchange rate.

As for the comment about gas being more expensive over there, your ignorance must be bliss, the difference in price for gas (petrol for you Europeans ;) ) is TAX, not exchange rates. a barrel of crude oil cost say $50 for us, and the equivilant $50 for them (in their currency) the pump prices are ALL tax differences.

Hold on everyone, I can explain this pricing issue with EA. EA has been in collaboration with the Federal Government ever since BF: Viet Nam came out. It seems that the game was too realistic and activated a whole cell of Manchurian Candidates who in turn helped GWB win a 2nd term in office. To repay the federal government, EA agreed to overcharge all Europeans in an effort to recoup funds spent over the last 100 years RESCUING YOU FROM INVADERS AND REBUILDING YOUR COUNTRIES! Get over it, everything costs more in Europe because you guys live in such over-populated, under-industrialized cities, it cost $$ to import. Here endith the lesson.

^^ i Didn't Realise that they had changed the definition of Downloading from the internet from a website not of your country to Importing.

So he's importing his download is he? he has to pay for the Shiping for it to travel electronicaly over the internet?

hmm...

29.99 EUR = 35.2501 USD
Get over it! It is like $5.36, think of it as an international good will tax.
Hell when I was in Vancouver BC in September, everything I put on my Visa and my Visa check card had an international service fee attached to it. Like a 3x Latte at Vancouver International cost $3.79 CND, which is like $3.25 USD, but they slap a $.23 "Fee" on it. I still love Vancouver, and cannot wait to go back.
Hey Euro-dudes, DON'T D/L BF2:SF, APPARANTLY EA IS WORKING WITH POST WWII NAZI'S HIDING IN ARGENTINA, THEY ARE TRYING TO GET THERE STOLEN GOLD BACK! EA is collaborating with these Germans because after the release of Battlefield : Secret Weapons Of WWII, a half reanimated-zombiesque Herman Goering showed up at EA HQ (in Vancouver BC- Been there) and demanded that EA stop the copyright infrigement. He stated that even though Nazi Germany had been defeated, that Foke Wulf, Junkers, and The Meshersmitt companies all expected to share in the wealth that EA was making from the protrayal of the planes of the Luftwaffe!

Come on you guys! I live in Romania (an eastern European country) and I make only 200$ a month! And yet I bought the original BF2 (50$) and now I'll probably buy the expansion too, despite the fact that I'm not really "financially secure" right now. THE FACT THAT THE GAME HAS BUGS AND PROBLEMS IS A TOTALLY DIFFERENT ISSUE!

Is the game worth buying? If BF2 says nothing to you or you played only a few hours since its appearance (the first BF2), then you shouldn't even be on this thread! But if you are at least a little bit interested by the game, why not? What is 30$ to the Western world?

Jesus, sometimes I'm embarrased to be American. Then I remember I'm from the North East, and at least we're not ****ing retards here.

It's a legitimate thread, and the poster has a legitimate complaint. Although it clearly says EUR 29,99 and I don't see how he could have missed that since its bright neon orange and the largest thing on the page, it's probably a mistake and its a good thing that he pointed it out.

The value of money here is based on euros, 100 for each euro. SF costs 3000 here, thats 50 USD...

OK, here's EA's reply:
" Greetings
Thank you for contacting Electronic Arts Customer Support. You were charged in Euros because of the billing location you chose when placing the order. I have issued you a refund of 4.56 EUR to make up the diference as 25.43 EUR = 29.99 USD. If you have any further questions or concerns, feel free to reply to this email. Our Quality Service Representatives are available Monday-Friday 8:00 am to 5:00pm PST. "

So, I guess we should all move out to Russia, buy the game there and then head back, since 29.99RUB is literally nothing...

I've seen it for 25 euro in a shop here in the Netherlands, that is 29,44$. In other words don't go with EA's downloader because you're getting ripped off.

I usually stick to English since I don't speak or read French (or whatever, so naturally I've never been to the French site and have never ever seen that 29.99eur anywhere):
https://account.ea.com/commerce/product-info.jsp?ipath=15&locale=en_US&sls=2&site=eaco&prodid=BF2-MAP&skin=bf2map&app=commerce

It clearly says 29.99$ and no talk about 1to1 conversion rates. Accessed through ea.com.

Luckily I got my money back.

As to Mykonicon, why are you whining about us whining? Why are you flaming this thread with your useless posts? You can also send me 5$ through paypal if 5$ is nothing to you. You can do it multiple times, in fact.
