I just got a new viewsonic LCD monitor (model VA1912wb 8ms seek time) and it runs great on my desktop and so forth. However when I play bf2 i think its causing some choppyness. Gunfights arnt as smooth as they use to be, and I get close to a couple guys and they start to ghost at time. This may have happened on my little bit older Acer 17" inch LCD. My new widescreens native resolution is 1440x900 and is a 16:10 aspect ratio. Im wondering if running it in the same resolution that I had been *1280x1024* could have something to do with this. The closetest res BF2 will let me run is 1360x1024. Ive tried UT2k4 and doom 3, both seem to be working fine.... I had heard that there has been some issues with others while running after SF update?

What does everyone think?

Thanks in advance everyone...

If your running it 1280x1024 then i assume youd have to windowed the game in some way which might not be great for performance- although im only speculating as i have never tried doing it.
By ghosting do you mean the game doing something similar as in the attached or the monitor ghosting i.e. can you take a screen shot of the ghost or not.If its in the screenshot its a fps/system issue. If its not its the monitor. Pain of this method will be pressing the screenshot key at the exact moment.

Dont listen to what BF2 tells you about resolutions, try the command line hack
"C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\BF2.exe" +menu 1 +fullscreen 1 +szx 1440 +szy 900
It may not be proper widescreen but its worth a try and lcds smile at you for using native res. IF the game wont load when you try that search the forum for widescreen hack or similar as the answer is here somewhere.
Alternativly try turning all the graphic options down to see if it plays smoother.

Thanks I will definatly try that tonight. I am in the process of updating video card drivers with Catayist 6.4 from the ATI sight, I've deleted the old drivers according to the way layed out on the sight.... I beleive that someone mentioned that I should possible delete my Cache?? is that a good idea also. See I had it all working but with limited less FPS before I stuipedly thought that updating these driver was a good idea..... I know I changed the resolution to the 1280 max one maybe I should have just left it at 800 or something...

I'm running a dell 5100
3.0ghz HT
1 gig ram
x300 radeon
19 inch view sonic 1912wb

Everything on low

Can someone comment on deleting the cache.. Good or no good... I will search for how to do it myself as not to waste your time..

Thanks in advance

have u changed ur refresh rate to the highest? This can make the image look much slower if it aint been changed, but its also better for ur eyes.

wow, ok if ur ghosting..... YOU GOT ABAD MONITOR.....

and a bigger resolution means you will loose fps and you will lag,

i went from a 6800 gt and 17"crt with 80 fps average to a 20"lcd widescreen and a 7800 gtx with 60 fps average........ its not that hard dude

that dont make sense, unless u have Vsync turned on & is capping ur FPS bcos ur refresh rate is @ standard 60Hz
