I have a Dell 2005FPW which has a native resolution of 1680 x 1050, and i also have a pretty good video card. i realized that 4x AA looks a little better at 1152x864 than a game with a high resolution such as 1600 x 900 without AA, which i kinda expected. But if you turn AA off and put resolution at 1600 x 900 the performance increase is amazing. I had with 50 bots at Gulf of Oman 45-65fps with 4x AA, now without 4xAA but with a high resolution my fps has seemed to jump up 30 frames. I felt that i should just share this, that high resolution has a much greater performance and only looks slighty less crisp than low, try it out. Also if you already knew this dont be an a$$.

I would go with a higher resolution, but my monitor doesn't support higher refresh rates at those resolutions and I can't STAND 60 Hz ;)

One thing that is very easy to see (atleast on a CRT) is the loss of clarity caused by AA. That's why I use high res (1280x1024) instead of lower res with AA. It seemes that BF2 ignores the driver settings so the highest filtering available is the Ultra high setting in texture filtering. I did some testing by setting 8x and 16x AF in windows but saw no difference in BF2.

If you have an ATI card you can force the control panel AA/AF settings by setting Catalyst AI to "disabled". The image quality improves substantially above the crap AA/AF bf2 applies to the game but be prepared to cry when you see the fps.
I agree high res is clearer than lower res with AA.

Higher resolution, everything looks better and more clear with it, AA just makes lines smoother. Plus, when u put on higher res, you don't need AA as much.
