How do you change the mp3 songs in BF2? Is it possible?

I mean the loading screen music that normally plays, is it possible to replace it with say Led Zeppelin or ACDC?

And if you do, will it count as changed files for online ranked play?

Loading times would rock with some sweet classic rock.

Also, what folder and of whta type are the music files?

I have tried basically everything to try and change the files

all i can suggest is DONT TRY IT!

changing the files messed up my whole BF2 and i've had "unmodified content" errors ever since.

Just lower the volume to 0 and put on itunes, its not worth it

There is no way to switch the music out. I liked the BF:V feature to play your own mp3 music, but BF2 is much more demanding and if they were to add that, it would probably be too much for most peoples machines, hell it already is.

Basically just run another music program with a playlist in the background.

thats not really what i was talking about.

i mean switching the loading music with another song.... if its the same type and size, how would it be any harder to run?

im not forcing it on anybody else heh, its my comp id run it on.

im not talking about having music in the actual fighting, thats stupid.

also, for having unmodified content stuff, doesnt a simple reinstall fix that?

and my question is whether sound counts as modified content.

i also clicked on your sig for bf2 lag reducing, and renamed the BF2.EXE file, but now it just CTDs when i click on the BF2.EXE that was renamed.

Hi,
I am also looking for them so I can burn them on to a cd to listen to while driving. In BF2 the spound files are in xxxxx.ogg format and they are located in...

program files\ea games\battlefield 2\mods\bf2\common_client.zip

Once there you should see the "sound" folder. Inside that folder is all the sound files you hear during the game including the music played when your team wins/loses ( which is the ones I want).

Good luck

so, can i make ogg format ones? and replace the normal ones with similar sized files that are named the same?

does anyone know if that causes modified content errors? i doubt it, anything non essential like background movies doesnt cause those.

heh and the team win/ lose songs are decent, its the loading screen and menu music that sucks and needs to be replaced with LED ZEPPELIN AND AC/DC!

if u mean the menu music then thats actually located in the c:\programfiles\Ea\Battlefield2\mods\bf2\movies it the menu_loggedin.bik file.

with the menu_loggedin.bik file u will need The Rad tools - Bink and Smacker to open and edit

u can grab em here http://www.radgametools.com/bnkdown.htm

when u open the menu_loggedin.bik file in Bink and Smacker
selct the mix in sound option tab
browse to ur sound file
select mix

When finished go back to the c:\programfiles\Ea\Battlefield2\mods\bf2\movies and cut and paste the old file and put somewhere safe for a backup.

Then rename the New_menu_loggedin.bik simply as menu_loggedin.bik

u can make ur own video as well and convert it into .bik from .avi like ive done
In-game footage with Suicidal Tendencies - You cant bring me down :)

Your welcome. Yes you can find file converters to switch back and forth. I am not sure about what effect it will have on the quality, if any, but you can try. And like NAK[n00gz]Wolf mentioned you can use the RAD tools to change the background video as well.

The menu music is separate from the .bik file. However if your looking to change the video the .bik file is the file to edit. The file he needs to change for the menu music is called menu_music.ogg. This is its file path

Common_client.zip\Sound\Menu\music\menu_music.ogg.

Even after you do that you cant just swap out the file. Go here:

http://bfeditor.gotfrag.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=1469&highlight=ogg

Follow that tutorial and your good.

thanks for the help guys, but i have a final question or two.

the menu music is decent if its hard to change, the ones id really like to change are the loading screen songs.

since they are located in a zip file, how would i put my new songs into that zipped file? do i just paste them and they go in the zip file like a folder?

Sure you can change the stock maps loding music but you will be booted when you try to play online for modded content.
