Map making problems

I'm trying to make a map for my clan, and I'm having some problems. For one, what is it with water? Do you have to just place it in one place, and the physics engine will fill the rest is for you? or do you have to manually fill in everything?

Also, I am pretty much done the map, but when I try to load it up in BF2, the program crashes.

Any other tips on this would be much appreciated.
