windows movie maker is the only free one that's worth anything. but if you have money or a certain kind of software you can get these:

Adobe Premiere Pro $200

Sony Vegas 6 $500

i use sony vegas 6 and i love it so far, i just wish i had more text plugins.

I use Premiere but I haven't had any experience with Sony Vegas so I can't really compare them but Premiere is really good.

I Use Adobe Premiere Pro as well but if you are a first time editor i would NOT recommend Premiere Pro, it's just has too complex features (as the name says it is for Pro's) the same goes for Sony Vegas.

For First Time Editors:
If want to spend a little money there is Adobe Premiere Elements which is a easy version of Premiere Pro.

If you don't want to spend money choose Windows Moviemaker (very easy) or if you have a Mac iMovie. Windows Moviemaker comes free with Windows as does iMovie with Mac. iMovie is the best "Free" editing software but it's for Mac which is a shame. :(

For 'Experienced' Editors:
As i said use Adobe Premiere Pro or a selected Avid product.
Or use iMovie that comes with Mac!

Hope that helps anymore information or queries just PM me. ;)

Adobe Premiere Pro is only for windows... my mistake i forgot to put that in my last post. A alternitive (similar and almost the same) is Final Cut Pro for Mac.

Since when did Adobe Premiere Pro cost $200?

Adobe Premiere Pro 1.5 is $699.
