Alright, I am in dire need of help here. My BF2 is severely rooted, and I don't know why or how to fix it.

The game runs normally. The moment I attempt to join any online game, I recieve a nice crash to desktop for my efforts.
The singleplayer game runs fine, other online features work.
This has happened before. I solved the problem by reinstallingt the game.

However, now my pc doesn't seem to recognise the fact that the game is installed. I have a desktop shortcut, and all the usual things in list of programs on the start menu.
When I insert the CD, the game requests that I install it. I can proceed to the point where it loads the installshied wizard, but then it dissapears and does nothing, again leaving me with a desktop.

I cannot uninstall the game. The wizard loads, and then stops.

I also attempted to install the BF2 Mod Editor. I claimed that BF2 wasn't detected.

So now, I am in a rut. I can run the game, but I cannot play online, which leaves me with the limited single player and the ability to view my stats. I can't reinstall it either. Changing settings doesn't seem to work. I'm basically buggered, having recieved no help at all from EA Support.

I have attempted sending the entire folder to the recycling bin, to no avail. Same installation problems are still present, so no re-install that way.

The only possible cause that I can imagine is my removal of BF1942 and BF Vietnam at around the same time as this started occuring. Vietnam had to be deleted manually, as the unistallation was bugged for that, and had been for some time. I can't think why this would contribute to the problem, but it is a possibility, albiet a minute one.

It should be noted that the game ran normally prior to this, in 1.12. This has happened suddenly.

I havn't seen any instances of this happening to anybody else. My BF2 has been rendered almost completely useless as a result. Somebody please help!

Sounds like the last install got currupted. Probably just a missing value in a registry entry. Hopefully the re-install works.
