A fresh install of Windows will probably do it.

Yes, turn off ALL unnecessary processes and applications using Task Manager
Check your temperatures...maybe one of your fans aren't working. Look inside your case and make sure ALL of your fans are working...ALL of them including GPU, PSU, CPU, and chassis fans.
If your temps are fine, then do a full spyware and virus scan. If you don't have virus software, go to http://housecall.trendmicro.com
If your system is spyware and virus-free and your temps are fine...your hardware is probably fine...Yikes...you may have to do a re-format and re-install windows.
Your specs are more than enough to play this game very well.

Task manager, its safe to close everything under your windows logon. Don't close anything under "System", "Local Service" or "Network Service" though....

how long have you had windows installed?
I find that the system gets messy after about 4-6 months.

Yea, I typically call it "OS rot" I need to do mine aswell since I first installed that back in April and it's kinda chugging along right now.
The difference after a reinstall is more than you think.

I'm guessing reformatting on a build system is different than reformatting on say a Dell of HP, can anyone give any insight on the process......i just don't wanna mess it up and have a really expensive paper weight sitting next to me when im done.
Talus
12-24-2005, 09:52 PM
That won't happen...
The only thing that could 'paperweight' your system would be a bad BIOS flash or extreme overclocking gone wrong.

so what all i have to do is throw my windows CD in the drive and start up? or do i have to do something else to reformat?
Talus

You need to enable booting from CD in your BIOS.
Then throw in the Windows CD and boot up off of it.
You'll find everything thing you need during the setup process that occurs.

*sigh*......no luck.....even after the reformat the game crashes   anyone think it might be the graphics card over heating or anything like that....cause that's all thats left is the hardware.

It may have been some of the new BF2 updates. Not all of them are lets say ... spotless. EA say they are updateing but really they are ****ing you off by breaking your pc

ok reformating to me is like giving my pc a shower. it gets all dirty with all this stuff so reformating is like giving it a shower. thats how i c it.

yea i know, what i'm saying is that the reformat didn't help...so i'm trying to get a few ideas on why the game still is crashing.
