Firewall

This might sound like a stupid question, but how do I find out; A) if I have a fire; B) What its permissions are; and C) Disable it if need be.

What system are you running- go into the control panel and click on security for starters

Control Panal -> Security Center (with SP2 installed)

If you haven't installed a firewall it's unlikely that you have one unless you have a router and it's built into that.

I do have a router, is there any way around its built in firewall?

Yes there probably is. Unfortunatly I don't see how you expect people to help you when you have to wait to be asked for info rather than offering it all up iun the first place.

Have you tried Google for info on turning the firewall off?
