Many of you have had problems with BF2 crashing either to the Desktop or crashing that the whole computer reboots itself over. I too had that problem for the past several days, and have spent numberous hours trying to fix it, well, I have finally come up with the solution that at the very least, will help decrease the amount of times this happens. Heres what you gotta do;
One of the most Important parts is you're Video Card Driver. If you have a ATI Video Card and have the new Driver 5.12, get rid of it. It only leads to BF2 Crashing, you want to have ver. 5.11. You can download it here:
http://www.tweaktown.com/file-library/download.php?file=12 just select one of the Mirrors, download it, install it, restart you're PC and you're good to go.
EDIT *** Changing the ATI Driver from 5.12 to 5.11 will also Solve the Problem with you're Monitor haveing blocks of diffrent colors appearing on you're monitor while playing BF2.
If that doesn't work, try doing this;
Change the Resolution, the resolution may be at too high were it will stress the PC. Also, reduce the Hz that it's at. The Hz is what comes after the resolution. Ex. 600X800@60Hz. So if you have it at 100Hz, bring it down to the lowest it can go.
Turn off the Dynamic Shadow and Dynamic Light Features, since all they do it put a huge amount of stress on you're PC with minimal amount of improvement in appearance. If you have Anti-Analising on, turn it down a little, or off completetly. Also bring down other video settings if you're PC isnt top of the line brand new. Also lower the Audio Quality as well, I'm not entirly sure if the Audio makes a diffrence, but do it anyway for now.
If that doesnt work, you may be playing on too large of a server then you're PC can handle, if you normally play on a 64-Man server, try playing on a 32-Man server, and if you normally play on a 32-Man server, try playing on a 16-Man server.
Please post back telling me if this worked or not, and if it did work, to what extent, either it completly got rid of you're problem, or it reduced the amount of times you're BF2 crashs. Hope it works out for you guys, good luck.
