No, I have tryed it and it's not good, record some good sounding comments yourself instead.

I thought it would just be cool to hear what the pilot is saying when he goes headfirst into a tree.

Only if your trying to capture..something, by no means put it in if you are trying to do something professional, but if its just a funny little moment that you cant replace with premade comments then sure, i guess.. as long as the quality is max and it dosnt crackle in the speakers (some mics are too sensitive)

it depends, if you want (silly?) spontaneous comments then sure. Just do what Keyelite said.
If you mean having players seriously commenting the battle (like "****, chopper up ahead", "take it out!", "soldiers near north flag" etc) then go with premade comments, i.e. record them normally and edit them so they fit your movie.
