well i have the following comp
Pentium 4 2.6 ghz hyperthreaded
1 gb pc3200 ram
6600GT OC from BFG AGP graphics card
audigy 2 zs sound card (it says that on the card, i got it from friend and dunno whether its platinum or pro or gamer or what)
what performance should i get in SF or Vanilla?
i was hoping to run high on everything with texttures on medium, but now im running basically everything on medium with textures and a few others on low.
it ran smooth with high on everything and textures on low, but it seems like lag just started encroaching as i played, but it would be smooth the next time i did for a while, until it started to lag.
also, how do i set this ultra high sound quality, and can my audigy 2 zs handle it?

low-medium settings is about right and ur card shuld be able to handle ultra high settings but if u dont need it to be on ultra high then high will sound just as good and it will most defintily handle it.

Low-Medium graphic settings at 1024 x 800 maybe 2xAA
An Audigy 2 ZS cannot handle the Ultra High Settings. That setting was designed for sound cards that use the X-Fi chipset. Just set sound to hardware and sound quality to High.

i guess you guys are right, i was just wondering about all the audigy 2 ultra high setting stuff here.
im guessing its like the "ultra high" graphics settings: ie you change code in game, which does absolutely nothing in the game , but people trick themselves into thinking it makes sound or graphics better.
really though, the card has no prob running on all high settings, neither does the comp, but it seems like the ram is the prob, i cant run it on anything above low textures without annoying lag.

Anti Aliasing is a real hog, if you can stand the little jaggies I would suggest you turn that down, as well as Dynamic shadows and light, turn them down and you will run much smoother.
And x-fi is the only card that will run ultra high. And no it isn't a trick the card rocks, except it has issues with ASUS 64 bit systems.. I degress.

hmm, i replaced my ram with some faster stuff and now i can run evreything on high smoothly except textures (which you cant run smoothly until 2 gigs of ram i hear)

Too bad the graphics card isnt a lil better. Sound card is good, but you wont be able to set anything too high or it will bottleneck.

well its really annoying, there seems to be this problem.
i start it out on say all settings high, textures medium and it runs ultra smooth.
but then after prolonged play, online 64 player, it starts lagging and i say "ok, maybe it cant handle it online" and turn the graphics down to medium.
but then it keeps lagging basically the same amount!
does anyone else have this problem? i can literally start playing smooth on high graphics, and end up turning it to almost all medium low a hour later and it will still be almost unplayably laggy.
i thought it was the ram, because it went away for a few days with the new ram, but now i dont know what it is.
