Alrighty. No longer do I have to play BF2 with my friend at his house, because this Christmas, I got my box of Battlefield 2 action that I'm eager to open. A couple things are standing in my way though, I need to upgrade my system. This video card seems reasonable in my price range, plus it's a GeForce 6800 (which I hear is very up-to-date) but it is not NVIDIA, would it still work for BF2?
The rest of my system is all ready to go except my graphics. My CPU is 2.6 ghz and 1 gig of RAM, and a good soundblaster sound card. So, could anyone help me figure out which card I should buy. Here's the video card I want:

Here is the page before that one with all of the other 6800s:

Edit: 2nd link fixed.

yes this is a great card for bf2! I have two! The rest of your system is good too. Make sure you have a PCI express slot first! This is a PCIe card, and if you have an AGP slot, than this wont work in your computer. And this IS an NVIDIA card, it uses an nvidia GPU, its just the card itself is made by eVGA.
out of the other 6800gs's, I would say other than the eVGA one, get the XFX version. But of course someone is gonna tell me, XFX sucks, they dont.

Okay thanks alot, I'm not too sharp when it comes to cards, I'm still learning. I do have a PCI slot so thats good, and it looks like I'll be getting this card to frag my friend instead of frag with my friend! :D
I also have another question but it's about the patches. When I install BF2, am I going to have to install all of the patches or will it update automatically when I get online, I know previous game's that I've played did that.
Edit: hmm.. I looked at more stuff on newegg, and I'm starting to wonder about something. Are the slot types PCI, PCIe, and AGP? Cus if so I don't think I can get that card I'm going to have to get one with normal PCI. Or I'm just babbling about something stupid and PCI/PCIe are the same.

ok, make sure you have a PCIexpress, not PCI, they are two different things. But um, to patch the game, just downlad the latest patch, which at the moment is 1.12, and install it, then restart and it will be fully patched.

MISTAKE!!!!
PCI express not PCI
There is a big difference. Don't make the same mistake many other people make.

Thanks for pointin' that out, I'm going to have to look for another card, atleast I didn't spend that $200 without realizing it wasn't even going to work!
Any suggestions for a PCI card?
