Check your Firewall/Router settings. Make sure that the Ports that BF2 uses are open.
Scan for viruses and spyware.
Use MSconfig to turn everything off in your startup.
What country are you in? how far away are the servers from you? If you're in north america, you should be getting a 70 ping tops with cable something on your comp is either blocking or eating up your bandwidth.
Has your download spead decreased at all lately?
Worst case sceneraio format and reinstall windows.

Are you telling me the LOWEST ping'ed servere you can find is one of 160?
Refresh your server list, and make sure that they are listed by order of PING. Pick the first populated one on the list.

Hey, I've started experincing a high ping lately.
As of Tuesday I had a ping of about 60-70
Then, when Wednesday came along my ping doubled.
Now when I play on 'local' servers it about 120-160.
I have a router and have not touched it in about two months.
I've ran Spyware and Ad-aware removal software and found nothing.
And my PC maxes out on other programs.
Who is your carrier?
Ping values in the server browser tend to be a lot higher than those in-game. I'll regularly ping 80-100 in the browser and get a solid 30-50 while playing.
I try to end all processes that use bandwidth while playing ... automatic updates, torrents, etc ...
Sometimes your broadband provider just has off days where everything runs slower than usual ... I've experienced this more than a few times with Comcast.

Not to mention that most cable providers have you sharing your bandwitdth with the people around you.

I unchecked everything in my msconfig in the startup tab... Now the ping is down to 80s. I have no firewall... Anything else i can do?

If you don't have any programs hogging bandwidth or spyware running, I would blame it on your cable connection. Like I said, I use Comcast as well and there are occasionally days where my connection is sub-par.
I would try different servers. If you find a particularly good server, save it as a favorite. I have a few favorites and haven't used the server browser in two months. It's really all about trial and error, since the server browser is really not that good about showing accurate ping times.
Lastly, Comcast cable is very ... iffy. I believe that your pings will come back down to normal in the next few days. I've experienced slow response times and downloads and the problem is usually resolved within a week.

Well I located my problem, the router was over-heating.
I had a joystick sitting on top of my router and noticed that it was warm.
So I removed the joystick and the ping started to fall slowly as it cooled down.

Now it's all good, it's in the 30s =) I have a question that is probably somewhat stupid. How do you add maps to your favorites.
