Ok a friend of mine is having a shut down problem with Bf2 multi and I have tried everything.

First he has
A P4 3.2ghz
2 gb memory (4 512 sticks)
Cobra sound card
6800gt evga graphics card
Abit Is7 mobo.
500w power supply
Windows xp home

We formated his hard drive and reinstalled BF2 and nothing else but the drives and it will still not work. The game worked fine for months. He bought it when it released. Now after about 2 or 3 rounds it locks his computer down and he has to shut it off.

I have done everything I know to try. I have almost the same system and it runs fine. I have upped voltages over clocked it ran it stock and everything. Its water cooled its not running hot. I have pulled memory sticks...ran them seperate all together and any config I could. Ran it 512 1gb 1.5 gb and all 2 gbs.

Had him run it on the lowest settings and it still does it. HE can run any game he has but bf2. He has a lot of newer games including COD2. I thought it must be a conflict and the format would fix it but I was wrong.

At the moment all he has on the system is BF2 and windows and the drivers. Firewall off no anti virus no nothing. He can play it offline but maybe he just hasn't played it offline long enough for it to crash him. He has DSL 3mb and has a great ping. Usually high 30s low 40s. No router. He gets in and 2 to 3 rounds it locks up.

Does anyone know of a setting that I maybe missing. I have gone through the bios windows and the game.

Its making my head :wall: hurt.

Ok I had him take his sound card out and try onboard sound just to see if the sound card might be going out and still no luck. He has plenty of system to run this game. Its gotta be a setting. He played offline for an extended period and it crashed in it as well.

Have you check the temperatures on his GPU and CPU?
