I just installed BF2SF and every time it gets to the "join game" button point of the loading, it goes back to the server list with a "This server only runs on the origional version, please revert to your original version and retry". I just installed it! what is wrong?

did you install the patch after installing special forces. if you installed it before then you will have to reinstall the patch

Yeah, you need to reinstall the patch if you already had it installed prior to installing SF (installing, installing, installing).

is there just a special forces patch, or it it the 1.12 (or whatever) patch, cause i put in bf2, then 3 patches, then special forces.

lol. ok you put in SF CD, install special forces. Download ONLY the 1.12 patch, install the 1.12 patch and your done.

I got it working by just re-patching it.

I fixed it.

first...i installed bf2->sf->1.12...this resulted in my game being out of date.

I reinstalled the patch...no change.

Then i uninstalled everything. Installed BF2->1.12->SF at this point i tested the game and it worked. I joined a server with everyone else running the game post patch whereas according to the documentation i should have had to install the patch again. It worked for a few hours then eventually said i had modified content and kicked me off the server.

I think the proper installation process is...

BF2->1.12->SF->1.12

To be sure I also ran the game between each installation step.
