ok so my brother was fooling around to get more performance out of the crappy system i have (well for bf2) and hes like, oh u should turn off hyperthreading, so he does and there i believe there is some performance gain. ***PLEASE TELL ME IF IM WRONg***, but heres my reasoning. Hyperthreading is good for multitasking, but in bf2, ur only focusing on one program, so its not needed, and since its on, then its using up some reousrces while just sitting there, so try it if u want, but if u kno that im wrong, then say so

Not really it can result in stability so if yiou have issues with games not working then its a good idea to turn HT off, but otherwise it doesn't really help all too much.

tried it, and according to FRAPS and the custom demo I used, turning off hyperthreading made me lose 4 fps
BF2 may not use hyper threading but it is not the only program you have running in the background.
Hit ctrl+alt+del and look at the amount of processes you have, would you rather have 30 processes waiting to be run or 15 processes 2 running at the same time with HT on.

That's what I was thinking but... I need all the help I can get(http://www.totalbf2.com/forums/showthread.php?t=51193), so I tried it anyway

Grab a box of tissues, because I have some really bad news for you. IF the system specs you have listed are accurate and you have the Amd athlon 64 3400+, that processor has the same core as the Athlon 64 FX-51. And that processor does indeed have HT.
I know it's a sad day....Next they will tell you Santa, the tooth fairy, and the Easter bunny are not real either....I Hate to break bad news...

30 processes? jesus christ man. That's way too much. I run at 13 idle, and 16-17 with BF2, BF2CC, and TS running.

well hyperthreading is good for using multiple programs and FRAPS is another program..and all of hte bground processes arnt relaly being used by the CPU

haha, I know. I do turn a lot off though before I play BF2, but that's the only game that actually requires me to do that. All my other games were actually coded properly.
