Hey All,

Anyone know how to setup a server and have your buddies connect online w/o having to setup a dedicated server? I created a LAN server and was hoping my buddy who doesn't live too far join me for some flight practice. Somehow he couldn't log on, and my router has all the necessary port forwarding and my firewall does too.

I do have a dynamic ip though, not sure how to make it static. Any suggestions? Thanks.

The LAN game is for people on your network, or YOUR local area. If your friend brought down his computer and plugged into your router, you could play a lan game. Im afraid the only way for you and him to play on a server with different connections like that, is to host your own. it doesnt nesescarly have to be dedicated, but for best Pings it should be.

Thanks, and roger that. But, that's what I meant. Maybe LAN is not the right term for it...I want to create a server on my machine, play on it, and have my buddy meet me on it for some practice. When a buddy of mine created a LAN once, we had people connecting from outside of the LAN. I don't know how or why it happened.

Anyway, thanks for the input. Can you run the server and play on same machine anyway?
