i've been having a lot of trouble with the servers for this site today (february 14,2006). almost everytime i try to go somewhere on the site it tells me the servers are too busy. the new patch came out today but i would think people would spend the majority of their time playing it. the stats on this site have also been a bit slow in coming but stat trackers have my stats. on this site it says i'm a pfc but currently i'm corporal..anybody want to enlighten me on what the problem is and if it could get to be more common or not???

It's been slow because many people haven't gotten the patch yet! Not because theyre playing it!

The stats and such will need to be updated because in the new patch, the ranks have been changed. So most likely all the stats are incorrectly shown, check BFHQ for accurate stats.

(PS I dont mean just now, every now and then on a normal day just looking at the forums the site gives me a busy msg of some sort)

papalatiolais, the server is getting slammed I just raised the NIX load limit and see how it runs.

van_goober, I have no problems on normal day along with a lot of other people . . . I donno how we can upgrade much more with out going to multi servers but this is a free site so it would not be wise to do so . . . Here are the specs for ya.

Quad 3.2 Xeon's with 2mb Cache
6gb Ram
4 Terabytes of HD Space

I could uncap the NIX load but after 20 you start running into major problems of the site not loading and the DB's have a great chance of becoming corrupted which will shut down the site for about 30min.

thanks..just doesn't seem like this particular site would have that many people downloading the patch from it when there's plenty of other sites to get it from. (not saying this is a bad site though)

It's not that we offer downloads, we offer content. People come for content, and a hell lot of people at that. We're a "ressource" people can use to find what theyre looking for.

You stated that you believed that people 'should' be playing the patch and not downloading. Quite the contrary, at the time of the slow speeds, that was exactly the time when people were coming in to download the patch.
