View Full Version : Regular columnists?
Would the TBF2 guys be interested in having some regular columnists write up editorial opinions on issues/subjects related to BF2? It'd provide a formal voice for the TBF2 staff, but also create a place for directed discussion over the chaos of the forums. You know, give people something anchored to react to or discuss instead of everyone just yelling at the same time.
They'd be more salient than a post in the forums, which more often than not, flies off of the main screen in seconds.
Plus it'll add to the overall value that the site offers and adds original content. You could even set up columnists for various pieces of the game, such as a guy who writes about piloting, one about infantry, armor, editing, etc - though that may be too complex to start with, it's worth considering.

That'd be an excellent idea. I'd also like to be a columnist - perhaps on mods or the community as a whole. Or perhaps that little injection of Not-So-Common-Sense guides, ie my Jeep View guide and my thoughts on the USS Essex etc.

Not a bad idea. I'd do something in the technical aspect if asked (modifying files, retrieving stats, etc.).

Oh yea. A little bi-weekly bit about ways to tweak and optimize would be great.

Sounds good to me. Btw I enjoyed your view guide Fullforce.
Good suggestion. We've been thinking about doing something like this for quite a while. :)

As I say, I'd be happy to write "Not-So-Common-Sense" guides.

Great idea!
The only question is who would be the people to write the editorials?

Yes, that is a very good idea! It would be great to have articles every week on a certain topic and then let the community post their thoughts about it. It would give the people a good column to reply to instead of posting
unecessary and sometimes ignorant threads. And I would be interested in writing some articles too. :)

Good idea, i always love opinions on the game, especially weapon comparison opinions. It would be nice to voice out what u think of guns like the F2000, which is kinda controvercial, and of course the G3, which is super contraversial now that it's been buffed, but still has a 20 rd mag.
EDIT: Anyways, i guess i'll nominate myself, cause i've been here for a LONG time, and i've played BF2 since the very beginning (i have multiple accounts, several of which i havn't used for like half a year).
There is no reason why we can't have a wide variety of contributors - we'd just need some editors to filter everything.

Well, i guess moderators could step up to the plate to edit all the errors and typos that people make, then teh mods send the article (after fixed up) to the original writer, to see of the mod edited anything the wrong way. Then he would post it on the 'Column' section i guess.
Hmm, so far I haven't heard back about any of this.

We're currently busy with some important things, we just dont have the ressources at this time to setup all the necessary things to get this to work.
However, it is infact a great idea, and I will look into it within 2 weeks once my schedual clears up.

I myself think its a great idea. I will most definately take part in this once GW allows it. I roam around alot on "abovetopsecret.com" and read alot of the discussions, and its very interesting on how they gather their information and such. Not just games, but other topics as well. I also think that there should a limit to the discussion as who gets involoved, because seeing alot of the age limit on this forums, and posts and such, there should be standards set. :]
GW i will help out in this when "you" have time. You know where to find me. :]

Age limit?
What does age have to do with anything at all, short of legalities? Why punish those of us who are young, simply becaues the majority give us a bad name?

Yeah sorry bad wording, I did not mean in it as in age limit, but as in Maturity.
