Pictures from Iraq & Afghanistan

Hey guys, I am trying to round up as many pictures from both these places as I can. Mainly to help me with my mapping, but also I am about to start up a website with a few people I know that have gotten back from Iraq recently. So, if there are anyone that has been to Iraq in ODS or OIF, or Afghanistan in OEF please post your pictures of your experience.

I am trying to re-create the middle east as authenticly as possible, in all of it's glory (I kid, I kid). Thanks for your time and service to your country :)

well i dont really know what u mean but if ur looking for like overhead shots of iraq i would try google earth but if u want like actual pictures of it i cant help u sorry :(

Heh, I use both of those sources... but I want pictures from Iraq straight out of a grunts photo album.

Try Google Earth and look for main cities of the countires, Like for AFghanistan, look at "Kabul" and such.

Well ive been to Damascus, Syria its particulary nice. I only have pictures of historical sites :( so not sure how much help that would be but if you want more info you can PM me and ill ceratinly go into more detail. :)

OHH I just relized i have video of there Tanks on my camera. it said no cameras and i was driving by so i put my camera next to seat and yeah there msutve been at least 200 tanks. Yeah i was in shock it was in middle of desert "military zone" hehe

I've got some from my first tour in Iraq - but we were on the firing range - and hence - out in the middle of nowhere. Flat and featureless for miles, if you are interested, how do I get them to you? What the?

If you look closely, you can see that the Tank is sitting on a airport runway, and that the photo is obviously from a military firepower demonstration, that wasn't 200 people dying in a milisecond ;)

BTW, regarding your pics, were those taken by you? Where did you serve and with who?

Goats on the side of the road everywhere. There is this one road, name withheld, where they have these poles with crossmembers that they hang em on right out in public, and slit the throats and clean and cut the meat. They pull entrails out, you name it. Just like a deer, but right there on the street. Nice, smells good too, and I still need a picture of it.

Ah, good ole' country living. Just like home. All kidding aside, there are huge areas like this, and there are so, so many kids that live there. They seem to have no school, and are in complete poverty. I'm in a HUMVEE for this mission and a few others. I'm up in the "Gunners" spot. Oh wait I meant shoot me in the head spot.

On the way out of "OPERATION WHEELCHAIR" we went down a side road and this girl was manning the store at the intersection. She wanted water but due to insurgents, we can't just get out of vehicles and hand out stuff. Look at the garbage and the area behind her.

Look these insurgents are getting near my HUMVEE. What is the guy up on top waiting for, mow em down! Just kidding, these kids were great, and kept talking to me. Its hard to talk and watch at the same time. At then end we got pictures as a good PR thing. They kept jumping up and down and singing a pro-American Iraqi chant. It was cool.

On another note, we had a guy get shot the other day. Luckily his plates stopped the bullet. He was just getting up out of the tank hatch to tell the children to move back, when an insurgent plugged a round at him in the back. It was a sniper shot and thankfully the plates stopped it. I knew the guy and he was part of OIF I, so he's lucky now as he didn't get shot the last time around. It bruised him though, and it was on the same route we patrol at night. It was at our bravo sections checkpoint though, so now they need to be xtra careful.


Look at what these *******es did one night right after passing us and heading home for the evening. We went to go Zero our wpns and found this. This is in the day time after we had the road blocked off for quite some time and the crowds of people are starting to become an angry mob.
