im not sure of the legality of making a backup disc of a game u own. but here is my question. was anyone successful in making a hardcopy on disc of SF and if u did im sure it can be done for EF. b/c i would hate to have it downloaded and something happen. i feel safer if i had it on disc.

You know, just because you pay to download doesn't mean you pay PER download. If you reformat or something and delete EF, and decide you want it again, you just fire up your EA account and download. Once you've purchased it you can download it as many times as you like-so actually there's LESS chance of losing download software than say a CD which can be lost or broken. :)

Its a nightmare download the first time on a 256k connection though i expect (8 hours+) so burning to CD is a better idea for frequent formatters and/or LAN players.

I too would like to know if its possible to "back-up" the downloaded files, as this will be my first ever legit game i dont have a retail CD/DVD for (HL2 download didnt appeal to me) and although i have a fast connection, i format often and would rather no download it everytime X2 for both packs.

All you have to do is burn the EA Downloader dir to CD.

When you want to reinstall EF months later you just copy the foilder to your 'program files' dir and then redownload the EA Downloader and install over the one you just copied.

This will update and properly install the downloader but won't erase the booster pack data.
