Hey guys, I have had this problem for about three weeks now with some very bad anomolies on the screen since I got my computer back.

I have a Radeon x850 XT which is not even a month old, brand new power supply and cooling system. Now I can spawn and get rid of this problem, but it comes back all the time. I have gotten this under the current Catalyst and Omega Drivers. I have also had no problems in other graphically demanding games but this one.

This is what it looks like:

Zoomed in. Under Default settings: (800x600, most or all on medium and low)

This also shows up on buildings, muzzle flash, dust kick-up from vehicles, and character textures.

I don't seem to have any temprature problems, because the temp on the chip and inside the case runs almost 10c colder then when I had my old card and cooling system according to Motherboard Monitor, but I have not been able to find anywhere with the programs that came with my new card to be able to monitor the card's temp.

I have re-installed the game twice and rid of the problem, but a couple days after it seems to re-emerge. I searched on the web, and all I have heard of is something call pixel shadowing..but no pictures to compare.

If anyone could help me out on where to find a way to check my temps, any fixes they have found or just some suggestions, that would be great.

Thanks

I get this same problem every now and then. I get rid of it buy deleting the cache folder , defragmenting and rebooting. Fixes it for a while then it comes back.

Release: Yeah I do the same thing...and like what you get it returns after a while

The card if brand new, I have not overclocked it. I did a benchmark and monitored it from the ATI Tray and it was at about 65-70c at peak. Not sure what the average or high load temp is for Graphics cards.

I had that same problem but not so severe, did you have another graphics card in that mobo before, say nvida?

I found it wasnt bf2, joint op sufferd from it to. I downloaded a tool that would wipe all the remaining nvidia drivers then i reinstalled everything with Ati on it, i cant remember the tools name though i did this about 4 months ago. Its been working fine ever since.

Which cache folder???
The cache folder is found @ C:\Documents and Settings<Your name>\My Documents\Battlefield 2\mods\bf2\cache

To answer some questions:

redearedslider: Temps maxed at 63celcius, which is what I am guessing it's checking it on.

Preid: Yes I did have an nVidia in here in January, but it got fried and taken to a shop and got fixed/replaced. The guy who did it was MCSE, so I'm sure he knew what he was doing in finding all the nVidia stuff. If you find that tool, I'll go ahead and try it out.

UPDATE:

Recently got the problem again so this time i ran dxdiag and ran some tests on direct 3d. During the Direct 7 test (first one) the same problem showed up on the texture for the spinning box.

I went do MS's site, downloaded directx webinstaller and it reinstalled directx.

Ran the test again, the box show up like normal, no corruption. Started bf2 without deleting the cache folder using the same files that did show the corruption and this time the game ran like normal.

I really hope reinstalling direct x fixed it for me, gonna have to give it a good 2 or 3 weeks of gaming to see if the problem was fixed.

No, no use really. I think its a direct 3d 7 issue. A system restart seems to fix it.
