Can't join Multiplayer server

Hi! I just got BF2, and I don't have any patches/ addons of any kind. Whenever I try to join a multiplayer server, it says "Joining server" but then goes back to the server select screen. What's happening? Do I need a patch? The 1.3 patch is downloading right now, but when I tried the 1.2 it said I don't have Battlefield 2, so I couldn't install it. Singleplayer gets boring after all those "ring around the rosie" knife/ defirb battles. The bots seem to have an uncanny ability to know exactly where a grenade is, too.:p

you need to download and install 1.2 full patch (357 mb)

Thanks, but like I said before, it said "cannot find Battlefield 2 (TM) installation folder". Should I post this somewhere else?

Edit: Do I need to install the 1.2 before the 1.3? I searched and found a way to manually do it.

There is no 1.3 patch (maybe you're thinking of patch 1.03?)

All you should have to do is install BF2 and then patch 1.2

If you do that and you get kicked back to the server browser when you join a server then it may mean that you need to reenter your cdkey (help to be found by searching this forum for 'cdkey')
