BF2 freezing after map load?

Problem: Map loads. Everything responds up until I hit the 'Join Game' button. When I ALT+TAB out, the BF2 tab says its running a BF2 1.1.2. I've tried a reinstallation, I've tried repatching and getting a patch from different sites. When I go to use the incremental patch, it tells me I need I'm already running 1.2.

Settings: All high, 2x AA, 100% Draw Distance

Hardware: 1.7 GHz Celeron, 1.25 Gigs of RAM, 6800 Go, 60Gb HD

The version of the game after the 1.2 patch should be 1.1.2696-528.0

Did you try joining a server when you reinstalled but before you applied the patch?
