Can i ask why the Germans have been given extra SPECIAL treatment by EA in releasing EF before the rest of the planet can get hold of it, not only this but they can just stroll into the local shop and buy it of the shelf.

They can play single play until its official release, thus giving them a great advantage over the rest of the world wide community, totally unfair imo.
Iv'e heard the pathetic excuse banded around that because in Germany they do not have many people with credit cards, well tough we have to get them to get by in the modern world we live in.

Why does everyone else have to wait, and why do the underprivileged gamers in the REST of the world who have NO credit cards not get a chance to buy it of the shelf ?

So why has EA got its noses up the Bavarians arses ?

There are different ways to buy EF than just a credit card.

They are ONLY buying a card.

If I'm not mistaken, there is not a CD or manual included...just an empty box with a card with a download code # on it.

@Talus

Correct.

@skunk-dogz

Just for your information, not all Germans are Bavarians ;) .

Yes, you can download it with the download code.

There are a couple of servers running EF now, although it takes some time to get them filled with players.

Jealous?

Im still enjoying the 1.2 changes. I was playing 100% Ghost. But, with rev 1.2 im now back on 100% Sharqi because i love the L96.

Releasing Euroforce would be too soon. A lot of people returned to vanilla BF2 to enjoy the new weapon unlocks. EA should wait till people are bored with the new weapons. Say April 1st.

German tank aye ?
WTF didnt i get special forces earlier then ?

My question is why is it available as an "off the shelf" product in Germany only ?Surely not because the German population havnt taken to credit cards yet, i was in Munich in April last year, i saw lots of Germnas with credit cards in the shops i went in.

Jealous?

Yeah i'm jealous that people from another country have the advantage of playing it first before the rest of us. That doesnt mean i have anything against the German community.

Can anyone with a bit of knowledge on the matter tell me why only Germany ?

it's not just Germany, I am not from Germany, I am from Switzerland, we got it too... since yesterday... Austria too...

and I know it's not a German tank, but it has the sign of the Deutsche Bundeswehr on it ;-)

In many cases a Euro game will be released first or with extra content in the games native language or area. This is common for games from Japan and even north america. In my at least 12 years of gaming i have heard very little when it comes to the Euros not getting the short end of the stick when it comes to release dates, extra features, and other jazz unless the game is made someplace in Euroland. Also language can be an important factor since one ver. may be more finished than another. I know i would delay or have a patch ready if my game read something like "only for linux" in Jawablaishnish haha.

And skunk i hope you never meet any multiplayer balance testers... eeeek that might get bloody eh?!

The tank in your picture is a German Leopard 2 A6  . There are two new tanks in EF, the other is the British Challenger II.

How do you like the game?

Personally, i am not going to buy it right away. Even though i will regret the learning curb (ie. people getting a head start on me).

They only got it early because EA waited too long to delay the release and couldn't delay the boxes going retail. Their plan was to release it everywhere at the same time.

I guess the germans have the biggest community?
And as i heard from Andreas 'Gamma' Koch (BF1918) The german community is busy for over 4 years, Pluggin the EA Games, Arranging BIG lan Parties....

I guess EA rewards that?

Example : BFCON ! - Do you know any community that arranges such 'Parties/Lans' ?
Hell! i dont!

Yep, a huge Lanparty with over 400 ppl.
But thats not the reason for the early release.

I wrote the story yesterday:

In germany you can buy it already. I think they stopped selling but on the first two or three days (feb 21, 22 and 23) you could buy the download code in stores and download it after that.
The stores received the "DO NOT SELL YET!" order too late..
;)

Extra Special Treatment ? It's anything but, it's not the retail version, not too many people are playing it, for all we know, they're playing a Beta version as their version is based on 1.2 and not 1.21. Your better off not buying a card yet. They were given a red card too late - due to Ea's sloppyness and now a few germans have EF. What Im curious about is why they still enabled it in the Downloader ?

I was thinking the same thing. Why did EA leave there d/l servers up and let them download EF?

Fullforce

Because EA be stoopid, thats why.

If you're so jealous about the Germans getting it early - import it.
I can understand why you are jealous but us Europeans always, always get worse off when a game comes out. For a company to release a game in Europe, they need to translate it into god knows how many languages we have, and meet appropriate guidelines. This takes time.

Has anyone tried the EA Downloader? Is there just no link for it?

Sharp

There's a download link, but it's no use if you haven't purchased the download code:
