View Full Version : Why do shattered faith and rising conflicts look worse than most BF1942 mods?

I was just wondering, both these mods are rather high profile, i believe shattered faith is by the same guys who made the excellent Galactic Conquest star wars mod for BF1942, but those screens..... god they are worse than ANYthing i have ever seen for BF1942 mods. and its supposedly on BF2? what gives?

same with rising conflicts terribly underwhelming screens.... heck, i know forgotten hope for 1942 had the biggest BS ever with its insanely good looking screens, when the actual game looked like crap (and i had all settings as high as they would go)

it even lagged on my computer singleplayer when NO other mod of dozens had done that! even though desert combat and bfpirates and star wars mod all looked way better!

also, when are FH2 and BFP2 out?

not one reply? sad.

Firstly erm.... ok

anyway.shattered faith is, and i am not sure if you have ever tried lookin at their site / watiching any of their videos probably one of the most professional units out there, and unfortunatly it would also seem you dont have a clue about modding as you would understand alot more than you currently do regarding how things can look in renders vs. in game, i know alot of renders get touched up, jaggies removed, blurred sliughtly etc. to make them look pretty, but please at least to wait to see the stuff ingame before you paass judgement on mods, all of the time put in is free and unfortunatly alot of people seem to forget this and mods are expected to be better than retail games etc. whilst yes alot may be unfrtounaly people who have only just learnt of modding / learnt of it when dc .7 hit the net do not realise how far its evolved, look back at dc .1, you shot in the a10 and you killed yourself as the plane was faster than the bullets! now imagine if similar would be released now you would laugh and the mod would flop, DC didnt, carried on and was the sole reason, among other mods why alot of units of bf42 were sold.
so please, try to at least understand modding, cut modders some slack, ohh an open your eyes, as you obv. aint played mods long enough to realise all mods are different, pirates looks good, but FH looks good aswell, its what you judge as goood, historical refferances etc.
alot of people dont seem to understand and appreciate the time and effort that goes inot modding anymore and expect too much, if you want to provide constructve critiscm then post in news updates, not just they look worse than bf42, as its blatent they dont, huge texture sizes and model poly counts dont allow them to be worse,

ahh well, no hope for some people i guess

I completely agree with dadofsam. I just thought that it was a little cocky of the shattered faith team to call themselves "a game for Battlefield 2."

no, but all i know is i look at the screens and i see what i see.

shattered faith looked pathetic when i looked at it not too long ago.

if bfpirates, galactic conquest and desert combat for 1942 can all blow a BF2 mod out of the water graphics wise, than that BF2 mod deserves to fail.

really, shattered faith had the most pathetic looking screens of any mod ive ever seen, 1942 or BF2.

random mod flaming anyone? rofl

the point of this thread is?

perhaps mister bear if you embarked upon learning some of the labour intensive skills that these mods are utilizing you wouldnt be so quick to pass judgement ;)

at the end of the day these guys are not being paid for their countless hours - so quality is really completely relative to one's ambition and community support one recieves.

jimbob out.

but the thing is, bfpirates 1942 didnt look amazing, but it was colorful and great and fun.

these shattered faith and rising conflicts are both very hyped and have been developing for a long time and both suck rather hard....

i know how hard they are to make, its just i admire the good ones over the bad ones. especially when the bad ones are hyped hugely for some reason..... look at POE2 or australian conflicts sweet screens, or FH2.

Why don't you just wait and see how they play before you make a comment on how a game looks nextime.

hahaha Shattered faith and rising conflicts havent been overhyped!!! what site have you been visiting rofl!!! i havent heard from shattered faith in MONTHS and the previous update to that was an even longer period before - so perhaps you should do a little research before making these wild flailing accusations based on no particular evidence what so ever.

and just for the record - you are in no position to claim that both noted mods "suck rather hard" as you have absolutely no knowledge of modding, you are not involved with the creation of either mod and you haven't played their internal alpha builds.

at this stage all you can say is - "their press releases have sucked" - and quite frankly nothing more :|:

if i were you i would just leave this thread be

i said they were hyped, not overhyped. although the attention shattered faith received was almost certainly because of their excellent galactic conquest bf1942 mod.

how come i can pass judgement on a game that took hundreds of hours, but not a mod that took dozens relative to other mods?

He answered that question in his post. You HAVE played the game...

ah, so AFTER i play the mod i can judge it?

plenty of morons here judge EF just from what they hear from fellow whiners.

but i shall. however, i dont download bad looking mods, only good looking ones.

ah, so AFTER i play the mod i can judge it?

exactly... right now you are in NO position to pass judgement or really even comment on a mod as a whole. because at the end of the day YOU DONT HAVE A CLUE ABOUT WHAT YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT until you get to play the mods in question.

plenty of morons here judge EF just from what they hear from fellow whiners.

so then does this whole thread put you in the "moron", or "fellow whiner" category?

this thread is dumb and is getting slowly dumber.

i'm not trying to be overtly rude - i just find this senseless mod-bashing insulting and offensive to say the least.

EDIT: very hyped/overhyped = potato/potaato
