I might need to re-install Windows XP later, that's routine work every 9 months. As you know, the downloaded files which consitutes the EF game are more than 1 executable file.
I want o burn it onto a CD or back it up with a USB drive. What should I be backing up?

program files/electronics arts/ea downloader/cache/*BF2 NICK*/
In here you'll find .eam files (not needed) and a dir with the setup files for EF.
Once you have these setup files you won't need the EA Downloader to reinstall.

So that means, after Windows XP re-installation, I have to install the EA Downloader first right?
Then I restore the file into C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\EA Downloader\cache. I am just curious, what are those .EAM files? I thought I need files which are in C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\EA Downloader\cache\BF2FreakSF\BF2Freak\eagamesbf2-2006online_map_contentbf2euro because the Setup.EXE file is in that folder.
Thanks anyway.

Talk about trying to do things the hard way. Burn everything that is in that folder to cd. Then if you need to re-install, just run it from the cd, no need for the Downloader at all.

Freak, you only need the files in the folder that has the setup.exe
If you grab the other files then you'll need to reinstall the EAD in order to decrypt the files.

Good to have the answer. I should think the same too. Thanks!
