Wierd text in EF

i got my version of EF running today, but when the loading screen appears, the next strange thing !

Seems to be an error in your localization files, possibly missing the new ones that came with euro force. Best thing to do is reinstall.

seems to be no other way, i posted the issue on ea.uk.forums and they don't know eighter...

its a problem with locale recognition. You may not need to reinstal - instead, try doing a repair. If that doesnt work, reinstal is your only option.

sounds like you may need to uninstall and re-install the whole lot. meaning bf2 itself, and euro forces/special forces whatever you may have.

make sure and delete all profiles and program files as well when you un-install.

unlike SF, in order to uninstall EF you need to uninstall the entire BF2 install...

i am having this same issue myself and did a complete reinstall to resolve this and other issues. unfortunately the corrupt naming in EF appeared once again..

anyone had any luck with this annoyance?

Well i guess you might have to call EA customer support. Like someone said is something to do with the files name. Did you do any editting to the regular BF2 game files. It almost looks like when you edit the files.

i would probably have better luck here or in the EA forums (i';ve posted there as well here http://forums.ea.com/mboards/thread.jspa?messageID=478412&sls=2&lkey=RCkqvwIUaVQGEbThCmaMVAAAKDw.&parsid=1291508&) rather than calling EA.

when i first installed EF ( before the complete uninstall/reinstall ) the only modification i had made what the renaming of the movies so they won't load at startup' trick . i tried restoring them to their original names and that did nothing. After the complete reinstall i left it completely clean up to the point of EF and 1.21 patch, loaded up EF and still had the corrupt names. The only issue i ran into in the reinstall was a corrupt 1.21 patch off the EA site, surprise surprise, which would quit about 1/2 through. i then found the 1.21 patch elsewhere and continued through to EF. I then installed SF after all this, so it is not SF causing the problem.

I'm gonna take a closer look through my files in \My Documents\ as well as the \Program Files\ dir. If i find nothing, and when i get some time, i *may* do annother complete reinstall... pain in my ***

lovely... since i've been uninstalling and reinstalling so many times, i have created a new one. Now i am receiving the "Error: 32791:6 Unable to authorize decryption" upon attempted install of EF. This error is received as a security attemp to prevent access from multiples machines multiple times. What a pathetic method of software distribution EA Downloader is... now i have to wait 48 hours to try and fix something a bad installer broke.

Man i wish i could just go out to retail and buy this...

yes i am also getting this problem. i think its interesting that i set out to find if anyone else is having this problem and when i googled "battlefield 2 tech support" this is one of the first pages that came up, and my problem is one of the first problems on the list. in other words, this problem is not uncommon. so what is the f)(*ing fix EA?

as i have said all along, if it wasn't for the fact that this game is so f)(*ing fun i would have quit playing it a long time ago!

It's got something to do with the localization files. It seems when you installed the patch it went a bit wrong. Go to C:Program Files\EA Games\Battlefield 2\mods\bf2\localization\English and there is a file called english mappacks, open it with notepad and paste this code into it.

Andy140: thanks for the tip, can't wait to try it as soon as i can install EF again... but who knows when that will be. been 3 days now and my resposne from EA Tech after a detailed help inquiry was a "Please Try Gain". Not that i'm surprised after all the crap i've been through so far... dam this great game.

something interesting happened this afternoon - I turned on my computer as i normally do and after the logging into windows normally, the first thing i did was click on EA Downloader and clicked the install button for Euro Forces(as i have been the for nearly a week).

The difference this time is that it didn't give me the error and completely installed! Noting that i had changed nothing since the last time i tried installing i can only assume that the time was finally reset on the server. Though instead of 48hrs it ended up being nearly 144hrs.

so whatever happened was not on my end and this problem is left unresolved and i will be very weary of using EA Downloaded in the future

Just to fuel the fire, i have the same issue going on in reference to your first screenshot. I really didn't think much of it cause it's not crashing the game or anything. I did however reinstall the 1.22 patch using the full patch instead of increments and i haven't played a Euro game since so maybe that fixed it. When i get home i will take a look.

if you are still having this problem, try using Andy140's tip above and past in that code, it seems promising. too bad i didn't get to test it as i finally got Euro Forces to install again and the text problem didn't occur again
