You need SF to get the L96A1 and P90 I am only saying P90 too b/c it is in EF. I have the L96A1 and I don't have EF.

The L96A1 is a tier three unlock available to anyone with Vanilla Battlefield 2.

Technically the L96 is a tier 2 unlock, but you can use 2 unlocks in a row to get to it without owning Special Forces. Special Forces merely allows you to unlock 2 weapons for every Promotion you receive. As opposed to the single unlock you get when you do not have SF.

SF is awesome. You need not buy SF, you play 1 round on SF and you log out. Upon logging in and your account updating, you should have the other unlocks. While playing EF, the L96 is available as Tier 3 to all armies except the EU. It is their standard weapon. In regular BF2, it is available as a tier 3 unlock to ALL armies.

Just to confirm what revoluti0n said, you do not need SF on your computer to get the two extra sets of weapon unlocks (SF+EF). If you know someone who owns SF, get them to either:

Lend you their disk to install (one SF disk can be used on several systems)
Let them play one round as you
I reccomend the first option as then you can play the SF maps (if not just to save the cost of buying it yourself) and reduce the possibilty of someone going on your account and messing around at your expense :cussing: .

I cannot completely agree with you Sir. Eden.
It is true, that accuracy, and damage are the same on both rifles, but the L96 comes with a better scope imo. The lines are much thinner, and allow easier headshots over greater distance because the crosshair does not cover the head. This gets a lot worse with the M95 but that's for another topic...

One other thing separating the m24 and the L96 from each other is their different handling, reload time and sound.
But the most important difference is that you can use the L96 with all armies. The M24 us limited to the US troops.

Overall they are almost the same. I like the looks of the m24 better, but the sound of the L96 is a lot sharper, and I think also harder to locate for the enemy.

It's advantage is really mostly that you can use it with MEC, Chin, and Allied troops.
And since I like sticking to one single weapon with each class without depending on the side I'm on the L96 is perfectly fitted for me.

I think this rifle is way better than the other two. I could snipe fairly well in 42 and Vietnam, but I can't hit crap in BF2. I unlocked this and earned my sniper badge the very first map I used it on.

I hate it, It makes the worst shots in the world good shots, I hate seeing people who coulnt hit **** with the m24 or .50 cal start sniping, ****es me off, leave it to the true snipers who have been sniping from day 1

The M95 does some sweet damage but it sometimes makes me miss with its deviation. :(

No, EF doesn't give you any unlocks.

For you 2nd unlocks 1 of the following 2 things needs to happen.

1) Someone plays your account that owns SF.

2) You install Sf and play a round of SF.

You get 2 weapons that are included in the EF army, the P90 and the L96. They are default weapons for the EF army. When SF was realeased they had no unlocks for the Sniper and Anti-Tank kit. In a later patch (1.2 I believe) they gave you the ability to unlock those two weapons (P90, L96).
